So who here owns the Government versions of the Norinco 1911's? Id be interested in seeing pictures of what yours looks like and how you've changed it.

Please keep all the other Norinco 1911 versions outta here :p

I've just paid for a Blued 1911 Government so I want to see what others have done with theirs. :D

repost of my old thread

First pic is the original before the work was done.

Currently the gun is wearing the pink grips, they look much nicer than the picture, but my camera is crappy.

I had the following parts added,

STI Ambi safety
STI rear site
Custom red fibre optic front site
Mercury Guide Rod
Checkering on front strap
SA Checked Mainspring housing
STI beavertail- pinned
Afteck extractor
Chrome bead blast finish
New pins
STI hammer
STI trigger ~3lbs
SA Magwell
Ed Brown Magazines
Wicked Grips

Work was performed by Rodger Kotanko

It was alot. Not much change from 3K. I would rather buy a gun and build it up then start off with something that is finished like a Nighthawk or Ed Brown. However if you do do this, realize that for the most part your investment will not equal the price you can sell it for in the future, mostly. You can spend only a couple of hundred and get a great gun, depends upon how much you want to add.

I own one or two and they are a good bang for the buck definitely, but these aren't airsoft drache, they need to be handle with care.

That just means there is no reason to sell it in the future then :p

The 1911 I just paid for had the rear sight replaced although I dont know with what, the seller just stated it was adjustable.

I'd like to replace to the stock grips with something different although I have no idea what, just that I'd like to change them so the firearm is different.

I'll probably buy one of the sport models from Marstar when they get them in December and sell this one to my father so we can go out to the range together.

I replaced my front & rear sights with Trijicons through a gunsmith buddy of mine and a slight trigger job, worth it! However the Norc Commander was bought used & had a few rounds through it which means it wasn't as tight as those new ones ( I think they are better broken in anyways). Never had any ND with surplus ammo, just a few with the cone handloads.

I'm considering getting one the new 5'' ones Marstar has for $350, they are much prettier than the older norcs.

Here's my Armco-tuned Norc 1911A1. Had Gunnar stick some Philippine mahogany grips on it.

I love it wiyh a depraved unholy passion. At some point I'm going to have him sterilize the slide and stick some night sights on it, and then I'll call it done.

After studying the board here, I ordered one from Armco today as well. Can't wait for it to show up, and Gunnar was pleasure to deal with.

Just as a side note...I received 5 Norc mags from Marstars for my Norc1911Government. Sprayed/wiped them down with some All in One and they seem to be working fine cycling snap caps. Best part is they cost just a little over $80 delivered (for all 5)!
Sorry about the hi-jack....
