There has been some talk about late issue laminate stocks on no date SKS45s. Most laminates are refurbs but mine is not and here is why ;)

Here are the tell tale signs your no date has an original laminate stock

-Dark red lacquer

-Match ser#

-TULA insp stamp on right side of the butt

-stock insp stamps around the front cross bolt

-Butt plate is the same style as a hardwood stock

I have noticed sofar on all of them, the ser# ends with "K"

If you disagree plz prove me wrong :D

no disagreement from me . good observation dave .

so would you say on the buttplate on laminated , if the buttplate's rim is straight then its a refurb and if the rim has a hump (on top) its a original ?

could you poat a pic of post of the lam buttplate?

Not 100% correct. I've had red laminate refurbs with the butt plate with the tit on it. All the blonde laminates I've had were straight butt plates. The way to tell an original laminate is like Dsiwy said with the cartouches, color, and no renumbers. Never seen an original letter series laminate with a hardwood handguard either. But I have seen refurbs with mismatching handguards whether hardwood or laminate.

The handguard on mine is Laminate too and I also noticed the stock fits the gun very tight, unlike refurb laminates.

I'll get some better pics comparing the refurb Lam against the original Lam on Thurs.

Missed your "K" reference there Dsiwy. I've had "D" A with flat top,and "I" backwards N also besides "K" in orginal laminate. I've had hardwood "D" and "I" unrefurbs, but no hardwood "K" only laminate ones. The letter "E" is umored to exist, but I've never seen one yet.

Yes this is a sign too, my blonde laminate refurb has some gaps from the stock to the metal. Im sure you don't see alot of this on the original stocked laminates. Here are two pics of what i mean, left side is good but right side has some space. I'll take the trade off for a brand new laminate stock though! :)

As you can see from these two pics with the handguard removed there is still plenty of wood under the "catch" to provide a good tight fit.

Here is a pic of the top of my "flat" buttplate.
