Lee Loader

If you're looking to reload 50 or more at a time no.

If you're looking to reload 10 or 15, sure.

They are a great way to learn and get a feel of what reloading is but if you're gonna crank out any number of shells it's gonna get old real quick.

Even a Lee Hand Press would serve you better.

Oh and it's kinda loud, wear ear protection.

A Lee Loader can produce pretty good ammo actually, but IMHO you should get a powder scale and a couple of reloading manuals to go with it. The Lyman and Hornday would be a good start. You will want to get a nylon or plastic hammer, and depending which cartridge you load for, you might want some Imperial Sizing Wax if it is a straight wall case, a bottle neck case won't need it.

You would be far better off getting an actual press to start reloading with. I think you would find the slow pace monotonous. Also, the Lee Loader can only neck size, which prevents you from using once fired brass from another gun.

Get the Lee Classic Cast 4 Turret press.

You can turn the auto-index off and on. You can add a primer feeder and other things as you gain experience.

I have been using a lee loader for the last year now, and have made very accurate hunting ammo with it, but I did add to the set up. I purchased a scale for a great price off the EE, and I also picked up a Lee Auto prime, which is inexpensive and a great way to prime your brass instead of wacking them in with a hammer.

So, if your not looking to make tons of ammo, and money is a concern, then Yes, you can make great ammo with the Lee loader. I bought mine in the US for $16each, here in Canada I think they go for around $30, even then, its a small investment.

I got a press for Christmas, but will still use my lee loaders for depriming while watching TV, and I will still use the Auto prime, so there really is no money lost if you decide to buy a press later on.

They do work very well, if a little slow. I have one for .243, .270, and just picked one up for .38 special. It is a good way to learn the basics of reloading, but if you are going to load on any volume, you will want a press setup. I have the Lee anniversary kit and it works just fine for my needs.

lee loader

It is a pretty good setup, and works quite well. The problem comes if you start to fire two arms in the same caliber, or use someone elses once fired brass. If you are shooting one gun per caliber, it is a great way to start.

I have been loading with my Lee Loader in 45-70 for about 6 months and for the money spent it's been one of my best investments yet. Now that I'm looking at another 45-70 here in lies the problem. The Lee Loader does not full length resize the brass, so they fireform to the chamber of the rifle you fired them in. It's fine if you only use one rifle, but when I add another in the same cailber my reloads may not chamber. That's why after 6 months of good times with the lee loader I'll be getting a press. I do highly recommend the kit though it will always be nice to have.

Ok so in a nutshell.....if I ONLY reload the brass that is ejected out of my 9mm then the pro 1000 is the way to go, but if I want to buy bulk once fired bras (I plan on doing this) then the loadmaster is the way to go...am I close?

Had one 25 years ago-the metal on the loading arm broke when resizing for my 8mm mag. Bought a Lyman Turret press and am still using it, I shoot several hundred rounds a year NOW didn't then.

Save your money and get the loadmaster, it is a better press. Google loadmastervideosforum to learn more.
