I was unable to find a load using win 748 for this caliber BUT i did find one for Varget, since 748 seems to be pretty similar to varget in loads for other calibers could i use the load data for varget as a guide for 748?

No idea on the Varget/748 swap, but the most popular powders for the Swede are RL-22 and the 4831's. Is there a reason why you want to use 748 only?

748 is a little fast for my tastes. H380, H414 or 760 would be better, with 140 gr and heavier bullets.

H414 works well with 100gr and less as well.

because i have 3 lbs of it ..... im testing out some 4831 loads this weekend though.

Win 748 and Varget are Numbers 82 and 81 on Hodgdon's burn rate chart. Still not interchangeable though. Contact Hodgdon and ask if they have data.

748 is too fast a burning powder for 6.5x55. Reloder 22 is very popular for 140gr bullets. FS

thats why i was wondering because they have load data for varget and not 748 if they are that close in burn rates....

I dug out an old manual that list 748 only for lighter bullets, 87-100 grains.

42 grs starting load for 2860 fps
44 grs max load for 2984 fps
