I am looking to build one and would like some opinions. What would be your absolute jaw dropping riffle setup for the 1000m mark to 1600m.

PGW Timberwolf or Coyote ( may not have the reach ) first choice. If factory was included I'd pick TRG 42 or TRG 22 ( with the same caveat that applies to the Coyote - reach ).

check out Rick @ ATRS his shop is in Calgary, and he will glady take your money in exchange for a 1000-1600m rig. my buddy has one of his 300 win mags, topped with a nf scope. to rich for my blood, but its worth its price. you got to pay to play

Yeah I am looking at getting one custom made so if you can list parts as well would help alot, and I will check out the local guys

noneck, not trying to crush your dream or anything like that, but you might be waiting longer than a couple of months if you havent ordered your parts already. look forward to seeing it though.

There are numerous options and gunsmiths to consider. If you have an idea what you want (i.e., 338 Lapua, 338 Edge, etc) do some research on the net and call some gunsmiths and see what they recommend. Do some research and compare prices. Alternatively, you can have a spec long range rig as good as any from PGW - the Timberwolf in 338 Lapua is a dream LR rig, no question.

I started with the factory MLR 338 Lapua to do some testing and confirm it was what "I thought" it should be. After putting a full summer behind the trigger, I then went ahead and sourced all the custom components myself to save $$ (if that matters 2u, it did for me) and to ensure I got everything exactly to my specification and the rifles intended use - a 13.5 lbs long range boomer in 338 Lapua that will make extreme long range precision shots, while not being too cumbersome or heavy to throw in my Eberlestock pack and do some serious hiking/hunting.

I had 'Guntech' build it on my MLR 338 LM action, and after selling the original factory components, I am into it for a bit more than 50% of what a comparable full custom would cost. And it will hang with any of them, rest assured.

Wow thats a nice stock, who is that by?

Currently a suggestion has been made to go with:
700 Remington Action
.300 win Mag
30" barell (with a removable muzzle) I want something solid and heavy
stock, no idea yet

I will post a picture of the exact gun as a friend of mine has it, and it shoots amazing. This is a setup i am leaning towards but am unsure of the other components.

Barnard Action
Robertson Stock
30" Krieger, Bartlein or Broughton Barrel chambered in .284, .284 Shehane or 7mm-300WSM
Pushing 180gr Bergers 2900-3000fps

Yummy :D

I would have to put up another vote for Rick at ATRS those guys build some amazing rigs and are serious long range shooters they know what works.
PS if it were me I would be building a surgeon action, macmillan stock, shiellen or krieger barrel, ATRS bottom metal, in 338 edge or 338 lapua.

338 EDGE
Accurized Left hand REM 700 Action
30" Rock Creek Barrel 1:9.4 twist
ARTS Muzzle Break
ARTS Recoil Lug
McMillan A5 stock
Jewel Trigger set to 1.5 Lbs
Night Force 5.5-22X56

This rifle was built by Rick at ATRS and I would highly recommend him to anyone

And yes I have taken the sticker off the Scope since this picture LOL

That's a nice looking rig.

338 Allen magnum, pushing a 300gr matchking at 3300-3400fps. Bat action, Krieger or Lilja barrel, Mcmillan A5, APS painkiller brake. Assembled by Kirby Allen. Now if I just had 8 grand laying around...
