Tell you what guys, instead of just saying it can't be done, direct your energy towards making a gun that will do it. I'm not going to change my setup before going back out to our range and coming back with results so why don't you guys do the same. If you can't be bothered to crank out a non-military spec Timberwolf that will actually produce amazing results then don't post a bunch of trash talk and get everyone on the band wagon. I know for a fact that my guns built by Alberta Tactical Rifle aren't ment to be hauled into a sand box because of the tolerances so I'm not sure why you're trying to compare apples to oranges. Is one better then the other? For a particular application both are better then the other so let it go already. Realisticly, if I wanted to shoot consistent groups at extended range, I'd probably try to launch the heaviest most consistently built bullet I could get my hands on because every bullet no matter the wieght has it's range limits but inside of it's limits, it's got a predictable trajectory and it will consistently fall towards the same point of aim. I showed you guys a target that four rounds fell consistently onto at a recorded distance that I thought wasn't THAT big a deal. Obviously my idea of 'Not that big a deal' was more of a big deal to some and I guess I offended 'SOME' people with my statement.
All you've done now is make me want to show you up and personally I think that's the wrong reason for going out and trying to do your best. As Rick mentioned there are a number of enthusiasts who have been surprised with the accuracy of their custom rifles upon delivery and load developement and some post results and some don't. The guys that post results are laughed off the forum by nonbelievers that either don't have the skill or don't have the discipline to go out and try it themselves. This particular area of the forum is dedicated to 'Precision Rifles' and the pursute of just that so why ruin it?
By the way, thanks for the link to the world record holder. I think we all find articles like that interesting. Personally I wouldn't have gone with that caliber but this guy set a world record with it and that's more then I can say I've done.
If this thread has taught me anything it's that I now have something to proove to the rest of the member on this forum and it's going to speak volumes for the rifle I've had built, the caliber I've chosen, the scope I've equipped it with and all the rest of the components that have gone into the results I'm going to come back with.
Steve and Ross, I think the offer was made clear to you that if you want to come out and shoot with us not as competitors but as enthusiests having a good time, then come on out and enjoy our hospitality. There's something that can be learnt from everyone because we've all traveled down different paths in our lives. All we can do is extend the courtesy. The guys behind the wheel of the BMWs aren't always a**holes, and Rick came to realize that too. LOL
