1. Why is it that some shooters I've met smoke or smudge their sights, while others use colored dots, etc. Is this an indoor outdoor thing?

2. Does anyone use ghost ring rear sights on handguns?

3. Is it difficult to acquire or apply glowing dots to old sights?

1-smoke dulls the sight to pervent glare

2- no

3-you dont need glowing sights unless your LE or Mil and shooting in the dark

Sights are over rated with handguns "trigger control is way more important"

Dswiy is right. But if you're a policeman depending most often on a handgun, having the ability to see sights at night can be crucial. For most of the rest of us, trigger control and grip are the keys. If you're intent on getting night sights, glow-in-the-dark paint doesn't work well. Invest in tritium night sights (which can be pricey) and have a good gunsmith install them. I don't mean to be preachy, and it's probably not necessary to say so, but if you're going to shoot at anything, day or night, make sure you know what you're shooting at, and where your bullet's going to go if it doesn't stop in the target.
