The Luger vs C96 thread reminded me of this: some years ago I was flipping channels on TV and came across a scene from a movie. One man, presumably the hero, was hiding in the midst of a bunch of metal garbage cans holding a C96 Mauser which had run dry. He had a stripper clip and was ready to reload but another man, presumably the villain, was standing right beside the garbage cans, looking around for him. This second man was also armed with a C96 Mauser. He moved on, the first man loaded and shot him, and I changed channels before finding out the name of the movie.

Does anyone recognize this scene? What were both men doing with antiques like this?

Also, anyone ever see "Sailor of the King" (1953) or "Brown on Resolution" (1935)? Both are adaptations of Forester's book of the latter name which was based on a true WWI sea battle.

I remember seeing that movie in the '60s. It's title was something like, "The Second Best Secret Agent In The Whole Wide World". It starred a generally otherwise unknown Brit named Tom Adams and the title song was sung by Sammy Davis, Jr. I liked the way the agent wore his holster ( in which he carried the Broomhandle ) transversely across his back, between his shoulders. You have to be a lot bigger than I am to be able to do that.

I searched "The Second Best Secret Agent In The Whole Wide World" on You Tube and there was some Mauser C96 action in this trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JaHMfk-bJ1o

Is that the movie you saw Kveldulf? I don't know if you like Sci-Fi movies but the Fifth Element has the full auto Mauser M712 Schnellfeuer in the beginning scene. Unfortunately, Luke Perry is shooting it though :)

Thanks, but I don't know. My computer is so old and decrepit (like me) that it locks up every time I try to run a Youtube video. Hell, they don't even write viruses for it anymore! :p

Apparently, this movie is also called "Licensed to Kill" (1965): http: //permissiontokill.########.com/2009/02/second-best-secret-agent-in-whole-wide.html

I hope this is out on DVD. I'm interested in seeing it now.
