Tavor OR SWISS ARMS PE 90

I found that Swiss arms test fascinating, and it shows the reliability of the rifles. My only issue with it was when they supposedly chilled the rifle to -300 C. That's below 0 K, therefore impossible.

I would like to see other brands of rifles subjected to the same testing.

I found the the non restricted SAN rifle to be front heavy. I'm sure it has a way better trigger than a tavor (haven't received my tavor yet), and is probably more accurate. But a tavor should be much easier to shoot offhand for me, which is how most of my shooting is done. Food for thought.

i had the chance to hold one in my hand saturday (Tavor full-auto). it's weird,i can't say i like it and can't say i don't. it's pretty heavy weight in the back(stock) and pretty light in the front(flash suppressor). but it was nice cool to see!!

I have used both.

The PE90 is nice for precision work in a semi platform, the swiss are all about the accuracy. Real downside to the PE90s is the forward weight, its not a fast run'n gun type rifle. great for range work and Gophers. The mid length ones are much nicer to use as they are lighter and faster to point, downside is 17.9" barrel.

The Tavor is nice for balance and speed, certainly one of the nicer bullpups out there. It has the military "liability trigger" that you would expect from a gun designed for use by soldiers working primarily in built up areas close to civilian populations. The trigger can be fixed though... Some say its not as accurate but I think there are so few in Canada that few people have worked out just what ammo and optics etc these like.

If you can, buy both. I like the Tavor cause its faster, lighter and suits the type of shooting I do. The PE90 is a close second though, they are really nice rifles. Looking online today and the Sig556 is on sale for $999.00USD down south.

 how does that translate into $3700+ CDN?

Although very similar they are different guns.

Two things make them so expensive here:

1. Ours are made by the Swiss so we pay high wages etc associated with that.

2. The 556 is being produced in much much higher numbers down south.

Will the price for the non-restricted version be the same? Was it manufactured with the longer bbl or was an aftermarket barrel installed?

The non-restricted version will be a bit more. The exact price has not yet been determined. The extra price will be for the new custom barrel and install. More details will be coming soon.

You forgot to mention quality and just about everything else is better on the Swiss guns, whereas with the SIG556, you literally have airsoft components used.

I'm leaning more towards the PE-90 because I've heard they are more accurate.
My girlfriend here beside me thinks the Tavor is cooler looking but the PE has a better "end" due to it being hollow.
Throttle makes a point. Hollow was her word not mine. "Skeleton stock"
