rem 770

I've been bowhunting since i was born and gun hunting almost as long. I took a few years off and now am getting back into it. I'm not up on most of the new stuff. I traded a couple of old mausers for the rem. and now am having second thoughts as after a little research, I don't think I've heard one good thing about them. I wanted something scoped for hunting and didn't want to chop up the mausers.[really beat up 8mm chzech and a pristine carl gustaf 6.5.] I am feeling pretty ripped off. I got the gun, a box of shells a week at the deer camp all inclusive. I don't know. Anyone else out ther wanna call me stupid?

Did you get it privately or from a shop? If you can't return it, don't fire it, and trade it in on something else...

The prestine Gustaf 6.5x55 would have done everything for you, for life...You didn't want to scope it, but someone else will...

I have a husquevarna 1942 6.5x55 already sporterised with williams peep sight that I would not trade for the world. I had the 8mm and the carl gustaf 6.5 collecting dust. I was offered the trade and not knowing all the bad stuff about the rem.,I went for it. The gun is very slightly used and it was a private deal so there is probably no chance of returning it. Oh well, I'm going to use the rem anyway and hope for the best. Anyone looking for a deal on a nice 770 .308?

Does it go bang when you pull the trigger? Can you hit anything?

If so - don't sweat it and worry about upgrading next year :)

I've got a 710 (predecessor to the 770). It goes bang every time I pull the trigger, pokes holes in the paper about 2" apart max at 100 yards (which is alot smaller than a deer's boiler room), the action cycles just fine everytime, although the bolt's sloppy compared to my model 70 featherweight. I got mine for my 18th birthday so I'm not out any cash for it. That said, I wouldn't buy another, because the Internet says they suck. And if I know anything, it's that the Internet is always right.

I have an 870 express and a 710, I dare you to stand beside me at the range!

I don't like the 710.but I wouldn't be scared to stand beside you while you fire it.It may suck as a rifle, but I doubt that it will blow up.:D

thx all, especialy the coment on the bolt flying out of the gun. I just wanted a "youth rifle" for my son not a dangerous P.O.S. ,I have read the youth nef .243 are difficult to get a decent group with - people with handloads even having a lot of trouble. will check out the howa I guess.
