Why is there no V-Max or any other type of poly tipped bullet available for a 22 LR ?? I see that the 22 Mag is available with a Vmax but no 22lr?? What gives??

Cheers!!

Maybe once the Mach 2 becomes history they'll make them? Weight? It's a good question.

May have something to do with the case size being the same dia. as the bullet. The bullet has to go inside the case. This would be hard to do with a jacketed bullet.

I beleive they do make them.

when can we get some of them here in Canada? by the looks of them, they would be as expensive as .17 and .22 magnums. Just about impractical with the amount of shooting gophers I do.

.22 LR muzzle velocities aren't high enough to require jacketed bullets. The copper plating commonly found on high velocity ammunition is sufficient to prevent leading.

My guess it is purely a cost factor, if you wish to shoot tipped bullets then they come in 17. I can't see a lot of folks giving a bunch of extra dough for tipped 22 rounds. FS

I think that it would be pretty useless. Not enough velocity to be much advantage and the bullets they use have done a heck of a good job for the past 150 years.

On the filp side I am really surprised that all the big manufacturers don't make such a thing anyway. They could charge a fortune and everyone would at least have to try a box or 2. Some people would swear by them no matter the cost or actual preformance just for the Mall Ninja factor.
