Tactical Rimfires

Ya that is my plan,. I love my 10/22 but I can get more "bang for the buck" spending the money I would on an SR and build up my VTR and my AP74.

Lets get the AP74 as one of the first tactical rimfires on the list guys!!!

brand new vtr is 495 +tax here in red deer at ufa
i paid 600 taxes in for my SR-22
id love to see how much cooler you can make a VTR for just 80 bucks

The tacticals might be 'tacticool' - but not many will even come close to let alone 'tickle tacks'. A good bolt gun'll outshine 'em all.

The AP74 has been around for a couple decades now. They can still be bought new I believe as the company has a website still ot of the Phillipines. I have had a couple and love the gun. I have had a few ejection issues with mine that were resolved after a cleaning up.

No tacticool rimfire yet ???

I still wait for the S&W M&P 15-22 and Sig 522 :D (really like this one)

still no classification

what's wrong with the RCMP....

The Henderson victory regarding a supposed 12(5) prohib is critical in how these guns get classified as they enter Canada. Apparently there is some indecision as to how some should be classified.
Under Henderson these guns are NOT variants of the guns they are cosmetically similar to.
That means they should be "non restricted".
It would take an OIC (order in Council) or change in the legislation to make them restricted. If the barrels are under 18" then that could push them into "restricted" maybe. Or give the C.F.C. reason to suggest they should be restricted.

Can't be restricted due to the fact that they are rimfire. The only thing with a rimfire can be is a prohib cuz of bullpup design were it can be fired without the stock or under the 26" OAL. All the rest is BS and they know it but if they want to restrict it or prohib it who can stop them? Defenatly not us the people. Maybe the government but they don't care about anyone but them selves.

If they restrict it, purchase one, get a refusal to register, then challenge the refusal in the courts.
The biggest problem is to get the thing into Canada. If CBSA will not allow them in then one will have to be purchased in the U.S.A. and then an attempt made to register it with the subsequent refusal.
The bottom line, people with a little initiative and will can stop them.

This is way overstating the ratio of Henderson, which we don't know we've won yet. So... let's cool it back a little.

There are reasons why they could argue the SW's are AR-15 variants. I think a challenge could be won, but let's actually get a win in the Henderson case first. Slow and steady wins the race people!

I dont think .22lr's are really known for their ability to be sniper rifles. They drop like a stone after a few yards.
It's not "tacticool" but this one'll hold the 1 cm 10-ring at 50 metres all day if I do my bit.

Once the snow goes away I'll be training at a 100 yards -- should be fun!

hmmm, was thinking the sr22 would be for me but after seeing the prices the remington seems like the better deal of the 2 (at least for me) on a budget. i see that the sr22 will accept any 10-22 magazines; will the remington accept and feed ok with most or all 597 mags?

I asked about the SR-22 at the local hardware store. The guy says they have 10 coming in any time. I figure I will get one (if it is a fair price). Built out of a regular 10/22, it should be a good working rifle.
