Springfield M1A Loaded

Thanks to all, especially M14 Doctor & J 996. After going through tons of information guess I got some idea now as how to build a good working M1A & also save money. To start with the very basic i.e. 'Receiver', which one is better, Norinco M14S or Poly M305?? As M14 Doctor mentioned to go for a Kreiger Barrel, USGI Bolt & Unitized Gas system, then comes the Stock -a good polymer moulded glass bedded stock and the sights. Now from where to get all these, and who's going to put them together for me & at what cost??
 
I just noticed one of my precision builds for sale in the EE by rommelrommel. Anyone considering buying a high end m1a should seriously take a look at this rig. As described by it's current owner, it is a "hyper accurate" sub moa rifle.
 
Is there any tangible difference between a Norinco M14 and a Poly Technologies M305?? Which one is better?? How good are they to use at a range for paper targets without any modifications??

Hungry here: You gotta go and read my post/review on my Poly M14 that I acquired in Aug 2009. Great fun. I parted out the Poly for other projects and ended up buying a 2007 series Norc M14 as my teaching M14 for the clinics! I don't shoot it much because my Armalite 16" middy gets all the competition work (lots cheaper to shoot) and my M70 .243 along with my .223 M700 get out hunting varmints. :D

Try to get a norc over a polytech. The norcs are newer and have better manufacturing then the older polytechs. The current production ones come with synthetic stocks, although I can't comment on them since I haven't handled one. Hungry says they're good though, and I'm inclined to believe him.

Out of the box they're a surprisingly functional rifle. Accuracy is nothing to write home about; 2 to 4 minute of angle is what is commonly accepted, with rare outliers reaching up to 6 MOA and as tight as 1.2 MOA. Plenty accurate for a battle rifle. They'll work out of the box, but they're still a $500 rifle made in a Chinese factory, and each one is extremely individualistic. You'll never see two that'll shoot exactly the same under the same circumstances.
 
Wonderful suggestions, Thanks. Accuracy is variable, individually, even among the most expensive rifles, but the reliability should be consistent. I guess they are functionally reliable enough, or do this Norinco needs some basic improvements/modifications before hitting the range?? I'm not expecting super accuracy or reliability from a $500 rifle, but are they worth their money??

Check out the upgraded poly I just listed in the EE. One of my personal rifles, and I stand behind every rifle that leaves my bench ;)

Or they'll say buy my M14S instead, it's on the E&E as we speak :rolleyes:
The question is, why is it on the E&E?

If you want an M1A, get one they are a beautiful rifle, WildWest shooting range in Edmonton usually carry's Springfield rifles all the time.
 
If anyone here is in a hurry to get rid of theirs I have some nice Swiss Arms or TRG rifles to trade.

Its a burden, but I'll struggle though somehow.

I don't mean to digress from topic, but just out of curiousity,
If I have an LRB M14SA (Rear Lug) receiver only, and if I'm thinking of selling it, what would it fetch?
Any and all input is appreciated.

If it's new, never assembled, it's worth u.s. Retail plus tax and import fees.
I'd say 1500 canadian but I'm just going off the top of my head
