Norinco CQ M16 - Whats the deal?

Hey, there are probably a lot of people here who have opinions about Norinco. I know virtually nothing about them, except that they are Chinese made and a lot of people appear to buy them. I noticed an AR clone of what is said to be a copy of the Colt M4. Has anyone used one of these things? Can they shoot accurately or are the chambers / barrels even safe? How do these compare to the many American AR makes and brands?

They very well could be decent, China has crazy manufacturing, but seriously they are asking half the price than say, something like the Smith & Wesson M&P series AR. Thats kind of compelling IMO if you're buying something decent:

I tried, got jack. Whats the best way to use it, advanced search with space delimited keywords? I tried "norinco cq m16"...:( I'll try screwing around with it again..
 
Mines a tack driver even with open sights. Nobody who owns one will tell you the finish on them is top notch, but other than that and the stock mags, I have yet to see someone with a real complaint.
 
Mine's perfectly fine - 100% reliable and acceptably accurate for an AR type rifle. They are certainly more than safe. As for 'feeling cheap' it's the same weight and has identical balance to an M4, they ALL feel cheap, get over it. Like most people who've owned or shot one, I'm enjoying a better annihilating firepower, just watch out for the flying saucers.

It's funny who everybody thinks that Nork's are cheap. There are the most affordable gun in the Canadian market, bar none. I can't speak of the Nork AR-15 but I have owned quite a few pistols, an SKS and there famous M1A and they have all been good shooters. Great gun for the money.

Search box is crap!

I own a M4 clone CQB 5.56 and been very happy with it. Great rifle, low cost, only the finnish is a bit crappy but I will fix that (someday...for sure).
 
The folks who slag them have never owned or fired them. Mine is comparable to any M4 clone I've used...same goes for the full sized M311 in comparison to the full size AR15 clones. Sure, the finish level is not "show" but my firearms ain't for show and the things we shoot at don't care about brand or aesthetics.

That looks like an ARMALITE in the picture ........................
 
The lower I got to play with worked 100%... the finish isn't as nice as the brand name AR, but when you're looking through the sights/optic, you can't tell the difference (at least I didn't)

If/when Marstar gets them, I might just have to pick one up and 'test' it a little more...
 
If you're looking for a pretty AR with a match barrel, keep looking. if you want a fun gun that goes bang everytime you pull the trigger, and will function and shoot just as well as any other entry level AR get one and you'll be quite happy.

That's the Norc upper on an Armalite Lower, since I've switched the parts around the difference is irrelevant, the MOE stock, and Hogue grip are now on the Norc lower, which is also running the Stag parts kit - and if someone tried to sell that as an Armalite, they'd get crucified (I hope).
 
Hah sweet! It sounds like the actual owners of this rifle like it. Thats nice! Other AR makes are too expensive here in CDN. I usually see prices $1700 and up.

I'm curious about the SKS and the M1A as well. I'd like an M1A but the Springfields are really expensive, probably enough that I would never buy one until I had loads of cash to burn (never?). There are probably a ton of guns that would win out for the spending dollars before I went that route.... but...whats with the Norinco? Their M1A is the goods?

If you are curious about SKS....buy one. They are so cheap! At 200$, these are proven rifle. Every body should own one so if the Liberal ever pass a law against military rifle you'll get to keep yours and may be grandfathered...
