Great advice... I was thinking of a custom build and was just on Questar site... drooling on the screen & kbd. Since I know nothing about custom build, which upper & lower would you recommend?

I does feel a bit underfinished (I wouldn't describe it as tinny, more "irony" as in a heavy unrefined touch) but it shoots in a straight line, is chambered in 5.56mm and has never jammed on me once (granted I've only put about 1000 rds through it).

Norinco or Remington
Just picked up one of the Remington AR's .... basically a bushmaster for $1200.00 .... so far so good and I would suggest it over the Norinco . I have nothing against the Norinco as I own several however the Remington is 100% interchangeable from what I can see ( I have not tried every combination out there ) and for the money you get a nice toy ... having the parts interchangeable is critical with these guns as they are just bases for options .... I heard them described as Barbie toys for men ... everyone wants different parts and options. If you don't plan on changing anything from the stock gun you can save a few bucks however if you want a better fluted barrel or trigger kits or ... well you best spend a bit more for an American made model that is not metric / authorized copy following detailed plans in accordance with a patent .
