Light-mounted Pistol Question

I would suggest you goto "*DPA" practice nights.... or a skills and drills night like slavex does....

if it is not a "match" or a sanctioned event then shooting "wut you brung" is more then acceptable..... as others have pointed out a light equipped gun is no more bigger to conceal then a non light equipped.

I have a bladetech IWB that hides g17 with x200B attached better then my my OWB holster.... the light is no lower then the bottom of the trigger guard and is only marginally fatter then the pistol.

Edited to add Pictures, the bottom picture compares a bladetech IWB x200 holster with sweat guard against an OWB uncle mikes holster, yes the IWB looks bigger but it is all concealed in the pants. and the sweat guard stops chaffing from the slide rubbing on bare skin. also note that the light is barely thicker then the slide of the pistol.

Yes IDPA does not allow for the attachment of lights or lasers during matches and such but most clubs that I have shot at will relax the rules for people that want to come out and shoot at practice nights.... YES you will be made aware of what rules your breaking and what you have to do to comply for a match or sanctioned event BUT shooting in canada is about fun, so go out and shoot....

Can anyone here direct me to what action sport discipline in Canada allows the use of light-mounted pistols?
As 667 mentioned, ODPL lets you mount a light (http://www.odplonline.org). Most match directors will also let you use it in a low-light match.

Since every new service pistol in the last few years comes with a rail and one must identify a low-light target in the "real world", which is what IDPA explicitly simulates, perhaps IDPA will change the rule at some point in the future.

For the moment, as has been made abundantly clear, you can't use a light at an IDPA match.

Despite Kevins comments most would find it impossible to conceal a gun with a light mounted let alone draw such an arrangement quickly.
That's just not right. Try it for yourself. My record on a pie plate at 7 yards is just under a second with a G19C and a light. Concealing the combo is quite doable, and no more difficult than concealing a gun on one side and a light on a belt holster on the other.

The biggest joke to me about IDPA in both Canada and down here, is most everyone games it, wearing the 5.11 "Photo Vest" over their pistol.

One match told me they did not like people using IWB holsters...

There is no laws against printing - it just needs to be covered by your clothing, so yes I can carry concealed a 5" 1911 w/X300

I could really give a RF about being Tacticool - I just don;t see why I should not be able to shoot what I carry daily...

...and soon shooters want to win, they'll game it...
I do find some humor in the way that IDPA came about because of complaints about IPSC games guns and gear, and now they stand accused of the same things...lol

human nature is to be competitive, to be faster, better and more accurate then your fellow competitor.... no matter what you do it is always competitive once you form a group doing it. from hop scoth to skip rope to shooting, man will give his left nut in order to brag to susuie rottencrotch that he beat steve pottypants at the local arena.

Yup, and I don't know a single thing about SWAt stuff either... I'm really just an airsofter... so is Kevin and so is Bigred... we really don't know much about guns, tactics or equipment.

Aaaaaahhhh, so you're the tech advisor for "Flashpoint"...lol
