Just acquired an sps tactical... 20" barrel and a 1-9 twist. I am looking to reload for it and was wondering what people on here were having success with to give me a bit of a baseline. I would like to use bullets on the heavier side of the spectrum, but am open to suggestions... I am primarily going to use it to deplete the coyote population of Alberta, so I'm probably not going to punch it out much past 300.
Thanks

H335 for bullets up to 60gr. In my experience, the heavier bullets seem to really like Varget or RL15. I've also heard good things for IMR/H4895 for the 75gr bullets. This caliber isn't really very fussy and likes a large number of different powders in the intermediate burning rate class.

In my SPS Tac, Benchmark works well with 50gr HP. Got some 77gr Nosler BTHP loaded with Varget, will try to test them tomorrow

Thanks for the input. Just wondering, for those who are using RL15 and 69gr SMK's, how much powder are you starting off with?

Start at 24.5 max in Lyman 48th edition is 26.5gr
Lymans accuracy load for 69gr is 26gr of Varget
My gun likes 69gr sierra's with RL15 on a good day, and nut behind bolt is not loose, .2s at 100 and under 1" at 300y
good luck
