So, AICS mags do not fit the new 700P 338, will they fit the new Savage ?

So, Rick at AB Tac Rifle save me some money and grief when he informed me of his discovery that AICS mags will not fit the gen2 Rem 700P 338LM. See his post here for more details:

Reading a few other forums, it seems like there are some problems cropping up with this (both in terms of guys ordering mags and guys ordering AICS stocks that now do not fit the 700P mag system). So I guess this post is a bit of a warning for those thinking of ordering something. Rick said he is working on getting some extra mags from Remington so thankfully someone is being proactive.

I was just reading an article in Amercian Rifleman where they were reviewing the new Savage 110 BA in 338 and it indicates that this platform also uses the AI mags, specifically AI C.I.P mags). Are these CIP mags the standard AI mags ?
 
the Remington mags are made by Accurate Mag Products it was an oem contract and they will not sell you one. You have to go through Remington or wait for AI C.I.P. mags. No AI mags won't work in the C.I.P rifles. The new C.I.P Mags is what will fit the remington 2nd generation .338 and Savage. Not sure if the C.I.P. mags are out yet from AI. You can read for an hour or so on another more sniper oriantated site all about this. the info I posted is from posts in the thread by Accurate mag and the american distributor for AI.

Yeah I think I know which forum you are talking about.

Well, I guess it is a matter of waiting. Hopefully either AI pushes out their new mags or we can source the OEM mags from Remington.

yup you can get remington ones when you want I believe at the cool cost of 150 USD:bangHead: AI (USA) quoted the members the same pricing as there current mags.
