Hello, I recently purchased a New Colt LEO 6920 and tonight I dissembled it to inspect, clean and lubricate it properly. I was very careful when I removed the extractor, I have another AR and I know that the spring can sometimes fall off. When I removed the extractor I was really surprised to see that there was no black O-ring under the spring, it definitely was not there before I took the bolt apart. My question is do all Colt 6920s bolt extractors come standard with an O-ring, or is it normal for them to look like the one in my photograph? If so I guess the dealer who sold the gun would gladly supply a new O-ring or I would be willing to purchase one from a CGN member.

I'll have to check to be sure but my 6920 does have the black insert for sure, but I don't recall it having an O-ring... Hmmm...

None of the 3 Le6920's that I've bought NIB came with an O ring. I don't think Colt puts any O rings on their guns unless they've just started doing it - mine did come with the black insert though, which is what you want - you don't want the blue insert.

O rings are generally an aftermarket addition.

That's right... the blue insert and a 4 coil spring for rifle length and a black insert and 5 coils for carbine length...

It's the SOCOM M4 Reliability Parts Kit. The "O" ring increases the spring force of the extractor by four times. The extractor is the first thing to go on the M16/M4 weapon systems. Which causes most weapon malfunctions.

If I wanted to could I just pull one out of my Oring assorted set adn throw it in or are the extractor Orings softer???
