Hello all!

I will not rehash what I have already covered, but sometimes we concentrate so hard on the separate parts, that at times it’s a good idea to step back and have a good look a the entire project.

In review #1 I covered : NEA CZ-858/VZ-58 Handguards

In review #2 I covered: NEA CZ-858/VZ-58 AR Stock Adaptor
http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?t=440483

In this third installment I just wanted to lay the ground work of bringing both parts together and give an over view of what my work in progress looks like to date. Right now my carbine looks like this:

carbine-s-01.jpg

Specs are as follows:

  • CZ-858 none restricted version
  • NEA upper an lower handguards
  • the optic is an Aimpoint Comp M4 (redot with a 2MOA dot)
  • Flashlight is a Surfire X300 flashlight with lockout switch.
  • NEA AR stock adaptor
  • Endine Recoil reducer (6 position)
  • Standard LMT carbine stock with a slip on recoil pad,

While the optic looks high, it uses the standard QRP mount with spacer and gives the most fantastic heads up sight picture, and I anticipate recoil to be straight back and soft.

I look forward to taking this one to the range and will do my best to field any comments you might have

regards and all the best

AbHobbyist I ain't no tubeawere sale's person but you should try the AFG from magpul. For some wierd reason I feel so comfertable shooting with this set-up. And thank's for all the hard work on the reviews.

Well gents, thank you very much for the appreciation. Was a larger task than I thought, but in the end I think it turned out quite well

Satain:

I am familiar with the AFG, I even owned one for a short time until I let a fellow shooter talk me out of it. It takes up the entire bottom of an AR carbine length free float tube, or railed hand guard.

If we have a look at the following picture, you will find a significant angle or tapper at the bottom of the hand guard.

I'm not sure that an AFG would fit on there with out significant modification.

I understand it will fit on a Fab lower hand guard, but Fab is not the way I roll. :D

Thanks Dmitri. 5 3/4" of room on the FAB, maybe 4 1/4" on the NEA. Didn't some earlier NEA lowers have more rail?

yes the Gen 2 did have alot of rail, but there were only a few prototypes made. Greens11 has one on his rifle.

Lookes like this I belive:

I prefer the more slender profile and the lack of "wings"
