Strange Thought of the day about M&P's

Okay so i read the thread here a couple of days ago in the pistol forums about magazines dropping out of the m&p's because the magazine releases are getting worn down on older models. So I'm thinking to myself, if most m&p's have a magazine disconect in them, what could happen in a worse case scenaio to a police officer if he pulls out is m&p to use it? :confused: The police force in St. Thomas where i live uses the m&p40. I would hate to see them pull out their service weapon to use it and have the magazine drop out and not be able to at the very least fire the chambered round. :eek:
 
I bet you a dollar that it would fire the chambered round.

My money says it probably doesn't have the magazine disconnector.
 
My M&P40 has the magazine disconnector. I know you can alter it, someone on here was kind enough to show me a link to how to do it. There are some M&P's that don't have the disconnect, and they have prominent writing on the gun to the effect. "Warning, this gun will fire with the magazine removed!"

I love that warning - my first reaction when I see it is "no ####, really?"
 
My M&P 45 has the warning, in a rather attractive gold tone. I'm beginning to think it might be the perfect gun - manageable grip, no applied safety, Novak Sights, 45 cal, 10 rounds, very accurate and dead reliable.

The guy making the biggest stink on this forum about the mag dropping problem doesn't even own one, so don't think they all have the mark of the beast and all LEO will die just for carrying this pistol.;)
 
Why they would even want an M&P for duty use when there's perfectly good Glocks out there is anyone's guess... :p

Why the hell would I buy a gun that doesn't work. And the 2 that I saw at my club were both brand new outta the box. This tells me quality control is no good. I was not gonna take the chance. And I'm not the one that started that last thread. I love the G17 though. Lol. Enjoy your MP. I still think they feel great and the ones I have shot were very accurate. A couple guys at my club swear by them but I wasn't gonna risk such B.s. especially if I'm buying a new gun.
 
Oh and the mags dropped after a round was fired not when they were unholstered. So the officer woukd get that first shot off, and the mag would drop during recoil. This means the second round wouldn't even get chambered. Still an issue but they would still get that first shot off. Not quite as bad. Still bad.

Another example of why the mag disconnect is a poor idea.

Actually, I find my USP compact in .45 ACPhas a grip very similar to an M&P in .45 ACP.

But you're right, HK does think we suck and hates us... :kickInTheNuts:

Easy now. Without a positive safety it is a baby killer. It is unsafe.:rolleyes: If you keep in mind that shot placement is far more critical than calibre, you could have the same setup but with 17 rounds(or 15) if you ran a Glock. Which is exactly what S&W copied I mean modeled their M&P on.

I have delicate little girly hands, which means Glocks are something I have to monkey grip - which I hate (I know, I could overcome it with training) but then S&W came along with a 'hommage' pistol with a great adjustable grip, the best of all possible worlds. I like 'em so much I have a 9 and a 45, but I'll probably buy a Gen 4 Glock 19 when they become available.

Oh come on, you can't have hands smaller than an 11 year old girl who shoots a G19 with great success, but fair enough.;)
