Matrix Ballistics

seen their ad in the hunting regs for years. Browsed their site a couple times. Doesn't look like anything special IMO

You're right, there doesn't seem to be much special about them as far as bullets go. I just like to see Canadian businesses in the hunting/shooting industry and was wondering if anyone has used their products.

Marshal ( Matrix) made me a batch of 750 gr. HP a couple years ago for my 50 BMG and they shot very well, in fact just as accurate as some other more expensive bullets. He is an avid hunter and target shooter and has taken some pretty impressive big game with his products.
A great fella to deal with....

Perhaps, but not so good at the marketing thing :) There's no info as to why someone would buy these instead of tonnes of other similar offerings.

I'm not certain what info you would require before buying but my reasons are :
- When we were shooting F-class he and others using his bullets posted some very good scores, considerably better than mine with expensive match bullets.
- The Matrix bullets for my 50 are as consistent in weight as other bullets costing $ 5.00 ea.
- A close friend and fellow F-class competitor well known for being very meticulous and a fine machinist himself swears by the Matrix bullets he uses.
- I can have a certain bullet custom made to whatever weight or shape I might want and in the quantity needed.
- And I am buying them from a fellow Canadian....that to me is a good thing.
;)

Seen/talked to him at Mission several times. Good guy. I've seen them test the bonded core ones. They turned inside out but retained almost all their weight. Those were 270s from a couple of years ago.

I have some of the Matrix bonded cores in 7mm and 9.3 cal. Hoping to try the 9.3 out on bison before winter is over.

They are very accurate in my wife's 7mm-08 and my 9.3X62.

Great bullets and Canadian made... sounds like a good reason to buy Matrix.

.308 Bullets I did a comparison of to stick into Quickload the Matrix are Tangant Ogive Rebated Boat Tail's so I'm guessing have a lower BC then Secant VLD's. I've had great accuracy results in my .300WM with the 178gr Bonded RBT Matrix and it will be my new go to hunting bullet.

The 178gr BT Matrix is very similar to the 175gr SMK, and the last bullet on the line up is a 185gr Chinchaga also Canadian made.

I just checked out the site. Seems like a descent price. My only reservation is that they are a bonded core bullet, with a soft copper jacket, so the frontal area of these things is going to be huge, which really impedes penetration. I like it when my bullets exit, and leave lots of blood to follow.
Does anyone have any significant experience with these lead projectiles? I would sure like to order some 125gr 6.5mm and some 145gr 7mm.

Hey there,
Thought I'd sign up and add my 2 bits.
I've shot many bullets from the Matrix menu and have had great success with them. I first got interested in them while reading up on the rebated boat tail design and was quite surprised to find a local manufacturer. Their bonded or fused hunting bullets I shot into balistics gel retained 100% of their weight. (as accurately as I could measure anyway) Sometimes the gel gets caught up and compresed into the mushroomed bullet so it's hard to get the precise weight. I actually had a successful opportunity to take a Bison with one of the 8mm fused bullets. It dropped with one well placed shot from 200meters.
The target bullets performed equally as well as any I've fired from the popular name brands. I'm currently working up some loads with the VLD bullets that they offer. Give Marshal a call and test them for yourself...no marketing BS required.

So far they are accurate for me, ive only started working up loads for my 6.5-06 and Im shooting the 130 gr. FB . Ive yet to shoot twice with the same powder load yet Im still putting 3 rounds into a inch (usually near the top end loads with two powders).

So far so good. Will use them for Deer this year.
