Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of the Argentine FM Hi-Power ?

I see that Southern Ohio Guns has them in for 300.00, are they worth the hassle to have a couple imported ?

Personally I'd buy locally.I think you'll find it way too much of a hassle to import one from the USA.
I've heard good things about the Argentine HiPowers.

So can we get these in canada for cheap or what? If its true they are just as good as the browning and sell for $300 I want two!

My Argentine High Power was a great pistol until I destroyed it. I had it rebuilt (see photo) and I love it. Is the quality the same as Brownings? The answer is no way.

Just trying to see if the quality is worth the hassles, was hoping to get some 1st hand knowledge on them

Yes, they are a quality pistol originally manufactured under licence from FN. May I suggexst you check out www.hipower.com and search the posts to get an appreciation for this firearm.

Richard, how did you destroy yours, and in what aspects is the Argentine quality less than FN's own build? I have a Portuguese-assembled Belgian FN and I'm happy with it, and one HP is enough for me, so I won't be shopping for an Argentine example in any case. Just curious.

Howdy

I do remember reading that the metallurgy is not as good as the belgium ones.

A friend of mine has one and I have handled it on several occasions, the fit is not as good as the belgium ones.

The cost of importing that pistol from the US will probably be greater then the cost of the gun itself.

You could probably find a HP for sale in the E.E. if you keep your eyes open.
