I had the opportunity to drive down and shoot a USPSA match today, but a local club had a Club Match listed on the IPSC page of their website, and it was also listed on the IPSC Calendar of our Provincial organization.

I got there and found out that it wasn't IPSC, but a modified version of steel challenge. (ie Stand here, shoot these 5 pieces of steel, wash, rinse, repeat 5 times and throw out your worst).

I was complaining to one of my friends, and the match director overheard me and offered me my money back, so I took it. It seems to me that if you are selling a scooter, you don't advertise it in the Motorcycles section, but maybe I'm wrong.

At the very least, I think I owe the match director an apology for verbalizing my concerns rather than taking them up with him right away.

I would probably do as you suggest, saddle up to the MD next time and offer an apology. You don't mention his demeaner when offering you your money back, so I'll assume he was trying to do the right thing, and not just get you out of his hair.

Unless you left the room in Reno911 fashion, I'm sure it's all good.

If i drove for a couple of hours to a Trap shoot and it turned out to be a wrongly advertised Skeet shoot, I'd raise hell, and want my gas paid for at least.

Well the MD will probably make sure that his match is as advertised next time, but you're right; the issue should have probably been taken up with him personally. The apology would probably be the good sport thing to do but then, I'd expect nothing less than good sportsmanship from you anyway. In fact, I suspect you've already done it...?

Hmm it wad advertised as steel in the emails I got. Wonder why not on the IPSC page?

Yup.

I feel what youi feel HB. I thought it was an IPSC club match but I am on the mailing list too and I saw that it was mentioned as a steel match two days before the match. I havent caught the 'steel' fever yet and would have been disappointed too. I wasnt able to attend both matches, but, if I could go and knowing it was a steel match here, I would have drove to the USPSA match.

Good that you got your money back. It was generous of the MD to do that.
