Well just finished going through the lymans manual, and they strongly recommend the ram prime for first time reloaders. I am going to head down the lee path for my first reloading endeavors (PLEASE....don't hurt me :( lol). Would you guy's suggest getting a ram prime instead of using the lee lever prime built into the breech lock press? Also if it is a good choice, can you get primer feeders to install on them? I'd hate to have to put each one on by hand(plus your generally not supposed to touch primers). And what brand ram prime do you recommend?

I prime with the priming arms and uato prime that come with the Lee kit. Nothing wrong with using what they supply, infact I like the process.

Ram prime is great for low volume reloading. I keep one around for such an occasion, but I favor the lee tool / tray

Ok cause the thing I heard about the auto prime/hand prime is that they are bad for high primers or primers seated too low. For high primers you just put the shell back in and push it down a bit more? And is it pretty hard to do a too low primer?

I've only primed around 2000 cases with the Lee Safety prime ( the tray and the primer arm that primes on the press). I have never had a primer that was not sitting perfectly flush with any of the 3 calibres I load for. It really is a simple and effective process.

EDIT: in my post above I mentioned auto prime. I do not own the hand auto primer, just the press safety prime. Thats all I use.

I have a Lee auto prime II. It mounts on top of your press and works similar to the ram-prime, but has a primer feed like the hand held unit. As an added bonus, the auto prime II uses the same standard shell holders that work with your dies (the hand held unit uses a unique shell holder).
