Sig 522

Thank-you for all your hard work Paul, I'm disappointed in the lack of support from cssa on this issue, but Id like to reiterate how much your hard work means to us all. The same for Mr. Henderson. The pinko commies trying to grab innocent .22's from a free society are like a burning fire. The fire is not discriminating. It burns anything in its path for whatever reason. Whereas you and Mr Henderson are standing there; water hoses in hand; helping contain-- or even possibly put some of it out.

Thanks

That is like celebrating the henderson appeal when it is still on going. There is no FRT as of friday so that is here say still. I would not be shocked if they are classed non, restricted, or prohib. But until there is an actual decesion on paper it is not final. TO quote someone else, hehehe, relax and take a breath. we may lose the battles but not the war, keep pushing intelligently and with facts and we will prevail.

I don't disagree. Would be nice to see the bucket of lucky dips the RCMP uses to classify guns, though.

There isn't a way to class it as restricted because it doesn't have an overall length less than 27" with the stock folded. The Sig 55X series isn't a restricted firearm but a prohibited firearm. So classifying it as a prohibited is the only way it can be classified different from non restricted if they base their classification on looks.

Isn't that what happened with the mp5-22 (forget the actual name)?

Yes but there are not non-restricted MP5's that share the same cosmetic characteristics as a prohibited MP5. The Sig 522 looks essentially the same as a Sig Black Special, a non-restricted rifle.

The SIG 550 and 551 are prohibited, however.

when it comes down to it any gun can be classified as restriced based on pure looks, the rcmp won't make this one non-restricted unless something changes in the next little while. Henderson decision is about 2 months away, the Sig will most likely be classified before that, and guess what class they will make it.........

guess what class they will make it.........

Prohibited as being a variant of the Sig 55X series of rifles. They can't class it as restricted because it doesn't fit the restricted criteria which is being a variant of a particular class of rifle (etc AR15 variant) and/or being short enough with the stock folded(< 27 inches).

If they don't class it as a variant of the Sig55X series of rifles then it can only be one class and that is non restricted.
