I recently installed a tapco stock on my SKS.

Other then getting the wooden hand guard off and the new one on, it was fairly easy.

The stock kit came with a spring. I have no idea what the spring is for.

Has anyone else installed a T6 stock onto their SKS? What was the spring used for?

Thanks!

In the instructions it says it goes under the rear of the trigger group. I have never used the spring myself as the trigger group fits more than tight enough and I have never understood the need for the spring. There is a hole on the stock for it but I have never used it and have never had an issue.

Really? I don't remember there being a hole in the stock for the spring on mine.

But the trigger group did fit in just fine without it. If there is no issue then i guess it doesn't matter.

Thanks

Some stocks have the hole nad some don't but I think all come with the spring. I have a tan one with no hole and a black one with in my hands right now. The stocks fit so tight I just don't think its needed.

I use the spring for these reasons. When you take the rifle apart and remove the trigger group the spring pop the trigger group out. On ATI stocks they say you do not need it and do not supply a spring but it does keep everything nice and tight. Use the spring.

Hmmmmmmmm I just popped the trigger group on mine to check the "spring out" and it pops out at least 3/8's of an inch and my other one pops up almost 1/2 an inch without. Maybe the newer stocks like the black one I have now with the spring hole need them?? I dunno, you can always slap it in if you feel the need to.

I used the spring that came as the one on the original Norinco was stuck fast. As for where to get the Tapco stock try SKSman.com (he ships to Canada).
