Looks great, nice to see only a few name brands aswell, not the franken, "every part is made by a different manufacturer build."

This looks great man! Unusual pistol grip, never seen that before.... whats that weird grooviness on the barrel? Did you go with US mil spec type parts, such as 1/7 rifle twist on the barrel etc.
Also, curious as to how you chose your lower and upper, there are so many to pick from. I've never heard of spikes before, but I'm nowhere near an expert on ARs.
I'm thinking about building one myself in future, but there are so many configurations and possibilities, and getting exactly what you want here in canada is a crazy balancing act of availability, pricing, etc...

the barrel is a 1:9 i only shoot 55gr or 62gr so i didn't need the 1:7 twist the main reason i picked spike was actually availability everything else is yankeehill those wierd cuts are flutes kinda useless but look cool. if your thinking about building your own save money on the upper and lower drop your money into a good trigger, freefloat, bolt and barrel.
Yeah I'll do that, I was thinking about making a post about it because there are so many considerations you would take into account in making your own perfect rifle. Theres a lot I don't fully understand, like why it seems to be a big deal about the gas block / gas key, and how it is sealed etc. I'm not sure why but a lot of people are concerned about that on quality ARs.
I like that you went flat top all the way along the handguards / floating rail. Some people say that all that rail can add a lot of weight which they care about (if you were packing it around all over maybe it would make a big difference). I don' t think I would use all that much rail, but I like the configurability. Some additions are nice as long as it doesn't get too excessive IMO.
I don't know what you are using for an optic there, Burris something. Are you thinking about a red dot sight or BUIS? IMO from seeing what I have see that is available for BUIS its Troy Industries all the way, the flip up version with the curved guards at the front are what I like best.
I think it would probably be easier to choose a good upper than it is to choose a good lower. Whats in a lower? Well... the serial for one right, and the trigger assembly, but how much goes into choosing a quality lower?

mind if i ask what kind of cash you have tied up in that? I have always liked the looks of the ar. I have never owned one
: but always wanted one. If our anal gun laws in canada would permit such a thing i would alteady have one for a varmint rig. It seems like such a waste to only be able to use it at the range.
