One intelligent answer, and then 6 useless responses. I guess its too bad not everyone is as smart as you guys.
Good job Gate!
Ya, you're right. Gatehouse answered the question and the rest of the posts were for our benefit, not nate18. Sorry nate18, some days it's just too tempting to be a smartass than to actually help.
Tebeef, yes indeed they do sell hunting licenses, as well as species tags .. but you need a hunters number to buy a hunting license, then you can buy your species tags. If you enter and win an LEH, then you'll require a tag for that species as well, if you don't already have one.
So to recap ....
In BC, hunters education is done through C.O.R.E. (Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education). Completion of this course or successfully challenging the test will give you the certificate needed to apply for your Hunters Number. Your Hunters Number is for life, it never changes, you only ever get one number. If it's lost, you apply for a replacement, you do not apply for a "new" number. If you have an equivalent hunters certificate from another Province, it will suffice but you need to contact a Gov. agency to get a Hunters Number for the Province you're hunting in (assuming you are now a resident in this Province and not just visiting to hunt). If you are just visiting to hunt, there are too many things to discuss here that need to be done so PM me for that info if you want/need it.
Once you have your Hunters Number you can buy a hunting license which as you noted .. are available at many retail stores. The Hunting License expires every year, just like a fishing license. If you're going to hunt big game animals, you'll need to purchase the appropriate "game tag" and it too expires every year.
There ya go. Hopefully I have redeemed myself ... Man, being a smartass is soooo much easier and a lot less typing.
