SVT-40 Gas system

Quick question, probably dumb, but want to ask it anyways to be sure.

My SVT-40 is failing to eject after every single shot, so I want to increase the pressure in the gas system.

The system is currently on 1.2, but it has 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.5, and 1.7.


What would be up and down?

Again, I am pretty sure 1.7 is up, but I just want to be sure.

Move it up to 1.3 and try it. If it still fall to eject move it up another notch. Ideally you want the lowest setting that will reliably function.

Isn't the SVT a russian rifle? I could have put it in Milsurp, but figured it would be fine here.

Ok now I know. I just thought that anything from Russian USSR times would be at red rifle forum.Now I understand why it is not.

Mine came from Tradex with the setting at 1.3. No problems whatsoever firing Czech Silvertips, I even shot a few S&B 180 Gn soft noses with no issues. I recently picked up a gas tool from Frontier Firearms in Saskatchewan for $20, so I am going to try lowering the output next time I am at the range. If you don't have one of these tools, I'd strongly suggest getting one from Frontier-they are the cheapest by far, and they work great!
