detachable SKS magazine in canada?

Perfectly legal to import it yourself as long as its pinned to hold 5 rounds before you bring it across and make sure to declare it.

Perfectly incorrect answer that may land you at the least losing the magazine and at the worst being charged with a crime under I.T.A.R. While it's completely "ok" by Canadian law, it is completely "not ok" under U.S. law.

You can export gun pars from the US without an export liscence as long as the value is less then 200$ (canada, 100$ other country)

Getting an export liscence is easy, getting the retailer to fill out his part is hard.

Unless the items are on the restricted export list.

SKS's are on the list. You cannot legally export SKS parts from the U.S.

Do you think any American sites would pin one to 5 for you and ship to Canada on request?

I've tried to order 500 of them from Tapco pinned and legally exported. They say "no." They are too busy serving the 47,000,000 customers in the U.S. and can't be bothered with the 3,000,000 customers here.

I am sure if I said "50,000" they'd change their minds, but I don't have the coin for that kind of order.

So you cannot order any SKS parts from the US??
Who in Canada has parts for them?
Looking for a sight adjustment tool and a black handguard for starters.
Would'nt mind converting it to a detachable mag too....
Ah hell maybe I'll just buy an 858 too!!:D

Wierd I've imported all my parts from the US without a hitch, some through canada post and some I picked up and crossed the border with myself (through Walhalla). Canada customs didn't have any issues and I declared exactly what it was. There was only one thing I had a moderate difficult time getting and for that all I had to do was apply for a liscence with NRCAN.

Maybe the difference is between original equipement and Aftermarket parts? Or I commited crimes left and right and even the border guards didn't stop me(both Winnipeg and Walhalla)?

That pretty much sums it up. It's not illegal in the eyes of Canada Customs to import those parts. However, it's very (very) illegal in the eyes of the U.S. government to EXPORT those parts from the U.S.

As far as I understand the american law, and as gunaccessories.com explained it to me. For gun parts if the order is below 100$ in value (200$ technicaly for canada but most stick to 100$) then they can export it without an export liscence.

If you look on nrcan or the RCMP's firearms website tehre is a notice to this effect as well. With that said most gun dealers decided to play it safe and simply no longer export anything.
