It's a very accurate rifle. Everything about it is period correct so far as I know. The scope was bought by a fellow named "Tiny Ryan", long deceased, back in the day. They didn't like the side mount scope brackets so the boys at Viel and Fields in Vernon, made up some custom brackets as you can see by the pictures. They felt the scope had to much tension on it with the factory mounts that were available at the time. Those fellows worked 60 hour weeks back then and they still found time to tinker, hunt, fish, shoot. I really wonder what we ##### about so much today. God Bless them all.
This rifle has the standard, for the time, 1-14 twist and doesn't like bullets over 90 grains. It has a 3lb trigger pull that is a little creepy but nothing to get excited about. As is visible, the stock was refinished by Tiny's grandson. He likes flossy rifles. It's a great old rifle and filled a gap for Remington, until the Model 700 series rifles caught on.
This rifle is like the cat with 9 lives, I've reluctantly traded it off a couple of times and it just keeps coming back home.
