7 STW & Gamekings?

Hi Everyone,

Anybody using 175 gr. Gamekings in a 7 STW? I'm thinking about trying them out and am curious about their performance on game at STW velocities.
Thanks Guys

I don't have a lot of experience with them, a few deer at decent ranges. Dead deer, no bullets recovered. 7 STW is a fairly high horsepower round, at what distances would you be thinking of? If farther, then I would say fine, as this is what the bullet is designed for. At closer ranges, a monometal may hold together better for you. Haiving said that, I've never heard of one that blew up.

I have taken deer and moose with various calibers using Sierra bullets in all kinds of conditions with ranges from 50 to 450 yds, always had good results with no failures, Sierra's have been taking game for a long time and generally shoot very well, what else is there to say, they are not super premium bullets but have always gotten the job done just like Hornady and Speer, if your gun shoots them accurately go for it.

I've used them in a .264 Win Mag and a .338 Lapua both with excellent results. These rounds were both well over 3000 fps and I never had any issues at any range. The main reason I went with the Gameking in these calibres was the accuracy but they performed just fine on many moose, deer and elk. In fact this bull fell to the .264 Win Mag this year, I would say they work.
