I used to use the Powder through expanders but didn't really care for them so I went back to using a belling die for .45 ACP or 10mm.

Then I found out about this product.

It is a universal expander bushing for the Hornady LnL Case Activated Powder Drop.

It will go from .30 to .50 calibers so it pretty much covers everything.

It's a flaring tool, not an expander, and it will be tricky to adjust.

I think setting it up with something like in this video may help.

Adjustment screw that allows you to adjust the amount of flaring....

The Powder Through Expanders that Hornady sells were very sticky for me to use.

I very quickly dropped the PTX accessory that was provided by Hornday....it never flared the cases at all.

I now use a the flaring die at station 2. I've found with the 5 die station, having a station dedicated just to flaring is not a huge loss.

Only if you want to eventually use bullet feeder, or seat and crimp in 2 operations, and use Powder Cop or Lockout die.

The only reason I like using the Powder Through Case Expander is that it opens up a station.

I like having mine setup for.

1) Resizing
2)Belling&Powder Drop
3)Powder Cop
4)Seating
5)Crimping with Lee FCD

I got in the habit of using a Lee FCD for all my semi-autos and cannot seem to break the habit. IS it 100% neccesary?....probably not but I like the added security of post sizing the loaded round for 100% reliability.

If I ever add a bullet feeder I will have to choose between the powder check die or the FCD???

All correct.

If you want to expand / flare in one spot, you might contact Rick at mrbulletfeeder.com and see if he'll sell his expander separately from the rest of the kit. It both expands and flares (it's a small flare) - the newest version, which I tested, is easy to setup. It fits into the standard LNL powder through, replacing the Hornady powder-through expanders, and is caliber-specific. AFAIK, he carries 9mm and .45.

Thanx for that info.

As far as this product I will update when I try loading some 200 LSWC bullets for .45 ACP. The Hornady PTX did not bell the case enough so I was shaving lead when I seated bullets. This is suppose to solve the problem.

IF it doesn't it is only $25. I have spent far more in the past on a gadget and got less.

Tried out the gizmo and it works fine.

Also upgraded my press with the EZject option.

My 2 biggest beefs with the press were that PTX and jamups caused by ejector wire.

I quit using the PTXs because they made the press operation sticky and weren't very consistent and I found myself adjusting them alot.

Press is working great now....

This is what the stations look like now.

1) Size
2) Charge and Expand
3) Powder Cop
4) Seat
5) Lee FCD
