.300 h&h

Hey 444Shooter, there is a good article regarding the 300H&H in the March/April issue of Rifle Shooter magazine.
However some of the loads mentioned seem a bit "hot"....I'd approach them with caution in mine.

Would the action on a M70 in .300 WM be long enough to use? Or would there be a need to lengthen?

Yes. You'll have to get the H&H length mag box and follower and you'll have to modify the ejector to allow the shells on the left side of the mag to ride high enough for the bolt to strip it from the mag. The feed rails will also require some tweaking to feed properly but both are easy fixes. I did both myself when I retrofitted my 300WM to feed long-seated VLDs.

Patience is your friend if doing the work yourself.

Nope, I am very easily swayed :D

A M70 or CZ/Brno would be my choice. Not sure about a pre-64 though. Kinda hard to find.

I have a 602 action I could be talked out of....Kind of big (BIG!) for a 300H&H though isn't it?

I just checked......The mag box holds 6 rounds so you could load the rifle once and have enough rounds for the whole season! :D:D

Cool, let me know what you want for it. I will be putting a nice piece of walnut on it and need to figure out make and contour of barrel now...

The Brno wood is actually quite nice.
Will dig everything out and send a pic.

I'm sure we can work something out as this one has been sitting for 4-5 years....I have more than one of these beasts.;)
