M14 without FH?

Does anyone make a heavy barrel that is NOT threaded for a flash hider ... would be definately different to see ... or does it sound weird ...

I would find an accurate barrel of far more use than a flashhider that simply adds length and gets caught in branches and grass. I'd like to take it off and add a "thread protector" for hunting.

just remove the FH and put the castle nut back with loctite, it should last the hunt.

Flash Hider ?

Cant see a flash hider doing much more than what it says. If they helped ballistics in any way dont ya think they would be on every fricken gun made.
Once the bullet leaves the rifling its on its own ,flash hider ,muzzle brake I dont care if ya drill out a potato and put on the end.The harmonic damper that I have on one of my mini 14s helps somewhat ,But its function to is to be able to adjust the barrel harmonics.

I took mine off and thought it didn't look "balanced" without the FH or at least something to visually terminate the barrel.

Is there a screw on cap or something that can act as a shroud? I think it work better than a FH since it shortens the length of the barrel without having to chop it off.

M14 barrel thread protector

Should be something available.Dont know for sure Im knew to M14s but I have thread protectors for a couple of my other guns. I have a muzzle brake on my M14

I put a brake on my M14 too, just a short one, about 2" long.
And I'm putting flash eliminators on more of my rifles. in 2008 I went over a little cliff and dropped my M14 , it took a funny bounce and centre-punched a rock with the muzzle. Based on the condition of the FE, I'd say the muzzle would have been wrecked without it. But I just unscrewed the birdcage and put on the brake I have now. I'm betting a re-crowning job is worth quite a bit more than the $35 I spent on this eBay brake (that works great, BTW)

I'm curious if any one makes a NON-THREADED barrel was my question ... example the Sig Arm's .223 sniper rifle version has no flash-hider or threaded barrel compared to the regular .223 rifle ... can or does somebody make a heavy barrel non-threaded for the M1A/M14/M305 type rifle ... or is this just a weird idea?

You should ask again, because if people ignored you the first 3 times, surely they will answer the fourth.

Definately the type of CGNer that is useless to all ... :p

p.s. I have never removed my flash-hiders although sometimes I've considered it as they get full of snow while wearing on my back and snowmobiling looking for animals to kill/eat ... ;)
