Hi folks
Does anyone make a slide resease for the Glock that has a little more surface area? Possibly an extended release?

I'm having a bugger of a time trying to release the slide with one thumb. Tough to budge this thing out of slide lock.

Depending on who you ask, the proper way to release the slide is to pull it back and let go. The slide release is really just to catch the slide and hold it open after the mag is empty.

X2. Beat me to it, I've seen a DE that was worn out from it's owner constantly releasing the slide with the stop.

How do you like the 21sf, I'm just waiting for the Gen 4 to come out before I buy one.

Glockparts.com, extended slide release...I have released 1911s with the slide stop about a billion times, never had a problem.

MAYBE the glock will wear out the notch...if so, you will have to start operating it Tactical Response style - always racking.

But I bet you will never have a problem. I find the release faster and prefer it. I have just gone to an extended release on my G20 and it is a definite time shaver. I would have gone to an extended release sooner, but I swore I would run it stock for a year first.

True, that does look like an extended release already...

You aren't trying to do it with an empty mag in the gun, are you? No offense intended if this question seems insulting.

you can release the slide with an empty mag when using the slide release/stop. However, you cant do that by racking the slide
but glocks are just that, this model or an other, regular slide release is almost impossible to activate while on the run especially if you're lefty

also agree that according to this pic you already have what the market has to offer as a glock extended slide release

Not my glock - my point exactly - I want that slide lock release.......
Truth of the matter is the slide release is almost impossible (for me) to release when I have sweaty hands. Hard enought when my hands are dry... It wouldn't take much to increase the surface area just enough to get a good purchase.

but since you list that glock in your want to sell ads, why exactly do you want to buy new parts?

Because I don't want to really sell it.
In the mean time I still love this pistol and want to improve this tiny little piece.
Its complicated actually but the bottom line is that I have a No4Mk1T to pay for...

No kidding! I was raised on 1911s, so I guess I never even tried to drop the slide on an empty mag.

I will have to try that, I had no idea that would work.

How many rounds you got through the gun? Mine was SUPER hard do to when new, but loosened up over time and now it's easy.

Update...oh yeah! You CAN drop the slide on an empty mag...how odd! I wouldn't have guessed that in a million years.

But probably 80% of the handguns I've owned have been 1911s.

Anyway if you don't have the extended release, it's tough on the G20 and 21. Just hitting the tab well is a bit of a stretch.

With the extended release, it's easy peasy. Glockparts.com man, I'm telling you.

I was talking to the Glock guys at a Glock Dealeo and they said that THEY prefer the current model not the Gen4 for some reason. I saw the GEN 4 there, and I liked the current one better which is what I bought.

X2 on Glockparts.com. I use my slide stop to release the slide sometimes. A friend uses it all the time with his 20 and hes never had any problems.

I also use an extended stop on my 1911 and haven't had any problems using it, lol and I think my thread about that shunned me from the 1911 crowd.

Anyway I've got an extended slide stop like the one in that pic on my 17 and I find its a great improvement over the stock slide stop for when you need it.

I think the opposition to using the slide stop to release the slide is a mixture of "i heard" and "i saw stories", personal preferance and people being too "tactical" for their own good. Load the gun the way you prefer.
