The post office has my sig!!

So holy #### I come home today to see I have a package waiting for me at the post office, so I go there in its a package from Questar! I ordered a sig226 and a .22 conversion kit, so im super excited to see this package, but I have to tell the girl, "wait i cant take this home" cause i dont have a temp ATT! they were just going to give it to me, and I could of easily walked out of there with it, they just needed a signature and proof of age.

So does anyone have any experience with purchasing firearms online and picking them up at the post office? Is it possible this was just my .22 conversion kit and not my pistol? The post office doesn't know its a firearm i figured that out, the firearms office is closed now so I cant call to get an ATT. How long does it usually take to get a temp ATT ? so many questions! I'm so excited!! I could have my sig now but damn are stupid laws! Man i was SO close to just walking out of there with it...
 
I have never gotten a temp ATT to pick up a restricted from the post office. As long as you don't open it at the post office it is still in transit with canada post from what I understand.
 
Please say you didn't tell her there was a gun in package.

Just take it home, it's still in transit to you til you get there and you don't KNOW what's in the package til you open it.

STATT's are usually issued 5 minutes after you call the CFO with the relevant data. Registration number, your address, and the post office address. You could probably have had the lady get your STATT printed out at the post office as they do issue the STATT's via PDF email to be printed.


The other's I think are correct, technically the firearm is still in transit until opened at your home. Requiring an ATT for post office to home would just become more cumbersome then it already is.
 
canada post dropped off two pistols at my parents house one time. my dad signed for them and took them without knowing what it was. luckily he has a license.

the dealer is a sponsor here. they also mistakenly registered them to a gun store in the states. they tried to put the onus on me to fix it until i threatened to phone the firearm centre and report it.

Well, first of all, don't piss off the post office, because they might have a gun. But, you don't know that for sure, right? Maybe Questar gypped you and sent you a rock wrapped in a t-shirt instead of the Sig. The only way you can be sure is if you check. But you can't open your packages in the post office because what if it's old issues of Penthouse and Hustler instead of a rock and t-shirt or a Sig? That would be embarrassing.

So, what you do, is you go the post office, and collect all your parcels. You sign for them, pay for them, whatever, and then you walk out, without opening them. And you know why? Because you don't know for sure what is inside. No one does. You take them home, and you open them (or not). Once you have opened them at home and you have figured out what it is, then you either fondle it greatly if it's the Sig, or you call up Questar if it's not.

Don't worry too much about the ATT, because it's a parcel, not a gun.

Or at-least that's the common consensus here. And remember, I am not a lawyer.

Words cannot possibly express the fail. Enjoy your Sig when you finally get it, but I can't believe how some firearms owners castrate themselves when it comes to situations like these. Take it home, unwrap the package, done. That's what it is - a package. Sure, it's a package from a gun dealer, but it's a PACKAGE. A sealed, contents unknown, package.

I bet you trigger lock your non-restricteds and lock them in a case, inside a safe, inside a vault room too.

Haha nice, the post office is still open till 9pm so I'll probably go get it! I'll post a pic here when I get it. Maybe I am being to paranoid. I called the firearms office right away while at the post office and they were closed so I could not get a temp att like one guy said. I just don't want to risk losing my license over something stood like taking a firearm home without an att. And no I didn't tell the clerk it was a gun, but #### I was so confused and unsure at the counter she probably figures it is! Crap I'm retarded, I'm gonna google this quick and then make a decision before the post office closes
 
See, that's why you should always have more than one thing on order at a time. Oh, I thought it was the other thing I had ordered, that I was picking up.

What were you going to do? Open the package at the counter, Acts and Prove. Trigger lock it, lock it in a case say thanks to the 17yo girl at the counter Smile and leave??
