rem 870 express 3" turkey chokes

As with any firearm, you'll have to try a box of as many brands of turkey loads as you can to find the ammo your shotgun patterns best with. A standard Full choke will do, but you can get a Turkey choke(actually Extra Full) from any gun shop(go talk to Al Simmons at 122 Locke St South. Closed Sunday and Monday.) Assuming, of course, you have interchangeable Remchokes(they'd be less fuss) now. There are turkey choked barrels too. Lots more money though.
In an 870 I'd use an extended choke with a .665" exit diameter, and Winchester Extended Range 6's. That should kill turkeys at 40 yards with no problem. You do often need to "sight in" a turkey gun to know where the center of your pattern is and that your point of aim is the same your point of impact.
As for brand of choke Indian Creek and Puregold are probably the chokes with the most "buzz" right now, but are also $80-$90 choke tubes. I also get great patterns with my Remington "Superfull" that came with the gun. Jellyhead, Briley, Carlson's and other's would also do fine.

I also highly reccomend the Winchester "extended range" shells. They seem to pattern really well in my gun, and should offer better penetration and range than lead in the same size, or you can go a size smaller (ie no 6) and have more pellets that perform similar to no 5 lead.
If you're gonna try the flight control wads try them thru your factory full before you buy a dedicated turkey choke. I didn't find they pattern well out of any tight turkey choke I've tried them with. By well I mean 140 to 180 #6 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards, which is what I can get with the Win Xtended.
Pick yourself up an indian creek black diamond strike choke in .665 constriction or if ya want a cheaper alternative a primos jelly head in .665 Bass in vaughan has both and some heavy 13 3inch 2oz #6 or the 3inch 1-5/8 oz #6 or the winchester 3-2-6 heavy weight and be done,you wont find a better shooting combo.

A few on the pattern board a couple at turkeys and you still have a half box left over that should last you another two or more seasons.
Pick up another box of shells,i sugest buying two boxes of the same lot# at the initial purchase time and you should be all set for the next 10 years or so.
Preaty cheap all things considered to shoot the best money can buy imo.

I bought a $30 Undertaker by HS Strut I think? 3.5" and 3" winchester # 5 turkey loads both pattern amazing out of my 28" SX3. I was deadly with 70-75% of my shot at 45 Yards on Quaker boy turkey pattern paper.
3.5" turkey loads make you want to give up shooting your gun when you pattern them, especially a light 7 lb sx3.

I use Kent Ultimate 1 1/4 oz #5's in 2 3/4 shells. Kills Turkey's dead out of a 59 year old sxs choked full and fuller. You don't need a 3 1/2" mag to kill a Turkey. Half the fun of Turkey hunting is calling them in. Not hurling "Howitzers" at them out to 50 yards.
