Well I have ordered a 9mm Trojan, and now find out there is a 9mm spartan. Does anyone know the difference in this two pistols? Is the Trojan worth the big ticket price? Any help or comments appreciated.

The Spartan comes with a regular, unramped barrel.

I had a .38 Super Trojan. It was the nicest 1911 I ever had. I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

When you say mag capacity of 10, are you referring to the magazine(s) provided with the pistol upon purchase or aftermarket magazines? I was under the impression that the standard 9mm 1911 magazine capacity was 9 rounds and that 10 round magazines were relatively new.

If standard single stack of .45 fits 8rds, it should be pretty easy to make a mag that holds 10rds of 9mm in the same frame due to smaller diameter of 9mm round.

Speaking of... I'd better go order some .40s&w 10rds mags... they work in 9mm CZs and hold 14 rds too :D

Actually they don't. I tried it last weekend. The opening of the .40 mag is too large and the 9mm just falls out when you try to put them in.

What is the mag capacity on these?

Unless STI have changed mag suppliers, the single stack 9 and .38 supers come with 9 round mags.

Bobo1972,...I would go with the .40 or 9mm, and I would spend the extra and get a Trojan. You made the right choice, although I would have got the .40. You can use the .40 in standard division, and still be competitive. I think the 9mm would be excellent to use in the Dalhousie Steel Challenge match on September 11th, 2010.

Can't go wrong with either, but go for the Trojan if you want a keeper. It's factory tuned, my only complaint is the sights - I prefer white dots.

Yeah not to keen on the roll marks, kind a large and ugly. I am not a fan of the bomar sights so I ordered it with fixed heinie sights instead. Its no xtra charge but takes about 3months to get it. I bought 3 plain mags and ordered 2 10rd mags from trip reasearch. Also mag pouches and holster, so I am set just need the pistol and couple 1000 rds. Also love those 10-8 grips, where can I get a pair? I must have them.
