As the thread title suggests, I'm looking for a primary that is modular and fed with an easily acquired ammunition source.

A few questions...

For those guys with upgraded handguards with rails on all 4 sides, grips and stocks, how much did you guys put out total, for the non-restricted version?

What's the cost of ammo for you guys like, compared to a .308 M14?

Are there straight stock tubes, or the like, to keep the stock straight out from the reciever?

The M14 in its current chambering is cost prohibitive and even more so when compared to the 858. As for all the accessories, if you don't understand their "advantages" they're simply extra weight and money. Stick with a stock rifle and lots of ammo. Learn how to shoot the rifle, not rely on mechanical crutches to make the shot(which they won't without the addition of marksmanship fundamentals on your behalf).

TDC

7.62x51 - $180/200 rounds
7.62x39 - $180/1200 rounds

what is there to discuss?
M14 7.62x51mm
Deadly accurate to 600 meter's
VZ 58 7.62x39mm
Deadly accurate to 200 meter's
So it all come's down to what you are intending on using your rifle for.

Isn't there a shortage of ammunition for the 858?

I had heard rumblings of that...

Sorry for the spoon feeding - I'm reading all I can and am quickly being converted to the 'red' side.
