No matter what other calibers I try,I keep coming back to wanting some thing in 300 H&H. Should I look for a factory built gun,or build one myself? Which factories chambered the caliber in which models? I know of a few but I'm sure I don't know them all. Same thing with actions if I decide to go that way. What besides a Magnum legnth Mauser will work?

Find ammo and/or brass first. Federal loads it though. $79.99US per 20 at Cabela's, Stateside. Epp's lists ammo and brass(no prices), so it's not impossible to get.
Profit River, in Lloydminster, AB is listing a Ruger No. 1 in .300 H&H. $1699. There are some Win 70's around too. Saw one on The Gun Vault at Briley(Texas) with a $3500US price tag.
The CZ 550 comes in .300 H&H too. Wolverine says they start at $1,230.00.

i have been looking for a while. can't find any thing i like. the good ones one on the ee's seem to go quickly. i will be building one on a rem 700 action i have. barrel to be decieded when i find one.

There was also a run of push-feed M-70's in 300 H + H that show up once in a while. FN Brownings were also chambed for it but are hard to find. I purchased an M-70 classic in 30-06 and had it rechambered, changed to mag box and follower and adjusted the ejector so it fed and ejected properly--is my favorite rifle.

I had a Reminton M721 in .300 H&H but I re-barrelled the action. I still have the barrel and it was shooting pretty good when I took it off. It will screw onto a M700 action without mods and require only a headspacing check. PM me if you're interested.

New this year Ruger is producing the #1S in 300H&H. Standard production, it should be standard price unlike the limited production "Boddington" model. I am VERY tempted to buy one.

Aaahhh, me too. I'd love to build one, as buying one seems too difficult. Does anyone know if one of the ruger M77II actions would work? Probably only the expensive 375H&H action.

Hey Woodbeef, that's cool!! Anyone know how hard it is to "move" the bolt stop and ejector back? I assume when they say move they mean "cut" or "file" the bolt stop face so that the bolt can travel farther back. The ejector must need to be cut shorter, as too much of it will "stick out" and hit the base of the 300H&H case.
