Celstron For Spotting Scope??

I talked to a rep from Celestron awhile ago. They apparently made lenses for other companies, then got bought by someone and stared marketing thier own products, and not selling to other companies.

I have a pair of binoculars from them that are quite nice.

Same generic chinese junk
maybe some is junk... BUT Celestron also made the 6.5x44 ED porro's I bought a dozen years ago and they still compare very well to Swarovski, Zeiss and Leitz I have had first hand experience with. They can - and do - make very good optics.
As for the spotter - the ones I have seen seem bulky and may not be as convenient to carry/use at the range. Also they may not (I do not know about this btw - just conjecture) be designed with sufficient eye relief if you are using safety glasses (which you should be when shooting) other than that can't see any reaon why not to use any scope that is adequately sharp and has sufficient field of view.

*sigh*

Yes, that was the iconic Celestron of years gone by.

Celestron of today gets most of it's stuff made in China alongside Synta (with a 30% mark-up for their name on the side of the scope). Usable, good value for the money, but limited.
