Anyone make an AI type chassis for Savage

actually, i own a 2.0, didn't want to hurt anybodys feelings. Just don't see the point in slaping on the skins when the port dosen't line up and when you scope that thing, it's gotta be at least 12" from floor to top turret with the lowest bipod on the market, not very low pro tactical in the real world.

I think maybe if you unplugged your head from another part of your anatomy you would quickly realize that we have placed the ejection port in EXACTLY the correct place so in FACT the port DOES line up with the skins cut out.
And how you figure that the scope is going to mount any higher than what the AI produced chassis systems does eludes us all.

Rick, you are not reading instructions AGAIN.

It clearly says to PRESHRINK before using.

Now go home run the skins through the hot water cycle and repent your sins.

Otherwise, just go burn some powder .... pretty much the same thing.

newbie to the whole AI thing...
And I have a couple of questions;
-Can I use a Stevens 200 rifle as a donor? and will the DM work?
-With no gunsmithing? (other than bedding)
Or do I have to start with a factory DM model to make this work?
-assuming I start with that action, your stock and a heavy 308 target barrel, how heavy is it (empty/no scope or mounts)?
Thanks for your time.

Not sure but can weigh 1 and let you know

Thanks for your time.

You are welcome. Anytime.

The original prototype that started it all is a Stevens 200 in .308 (now .260 rem) with blind mag. No gunsmithing required, other than to remove the internal box mag (if it is that style) and bed it into the chassis.

The chassis itself with all the hardware weighs in at 2450 grams if memory serves- we'll throw the .260 up on the scale tomorrow and see what the whole thing tops out at.

Of course I had to go and type all this while Rick was already replying, I'm going to bed :p

Sooooooo Do I use fabric softener and what heat setting for the dryer??:p

Looking over the dryer setting guide, I think a high heat setting suitable for a high density polymer should be about right. Pretty vague about how long - "but tumble till done" never hurt.

I really pondered the dryer sheet issue. On the one hand you get reduced static cling which is likely good to reduce your IR signature but then you have to deal with the scent.

The first thought was of course - no scent. Then last night - POW!

Use a destination specific scent like "Springtime Desert" or "Midnight Ocean Spray".

Best of both worlds...

.223 Savages and TicTacs coming next ? I contacted the German company that is doing AI stocks for TicTacs but unlike your AI stocks , theirs must be made of solid gold and that was a year ago . Maybe diamond encrusted solid gold by now .

.223 should be GTG with the chassis, the .223 AI mags are designed to fit and work from the same magwell as the .308 AICS(now if they would just get here already) :p

Considering I'm really hating the choate on my 10fpLe... this looks very interesting...

Guess I should clarify it has the Ultimate Varminter Stock. and I have little hands... The gun shoots great and the stock is fabulous except the grip... I may just grind in down...

Did I miss it, is there a long action version coming out any time soon. Also no fabric softener it makes for a less stable platform, if anything use spray starch
