Getting a new Varmint rig...

Will be Cooper, CZ or HS

I like the 22 250 ... but would like something a little different as well...

Any thoughts on .17 Fireball?

I am also thinking .222 or 220 swift..

Critters other than gophers will be it's main use..
 
Buy a nice classic Sako HB or even an old Rem 700 varmint in .222.

Pm me if you need RCBS dies and tons of brass [lots new].

A Cooper in 20 Vartag, 204, or 222 would be worth every penny and would add years to your life....If you know what I mean? :D
 
Get a Cooper. My choice would be 220, 22/250AI, 22/250 in that order. I have a 17 Rem,222,223,204,22/250,220 but sigh!!! non in Cooper. Buy 1, you'll buy another,enjoy them all.
 
Have had the pleasure of handling some of Clays coopers in person and when he says the pictures don't do justice he is right on the money. I don't own one....yet. Well finished and a damn good value. Custom Classics are something else!!!

Forget the stupid rifle dude.

There are cheap reloading setups readily available...You can't even shoot half of the cool rigs we were talking about until you reload!

Lots of guys here willing to help you get going...It isn't hard to do...Even Bartel does it! :D

You are missing out on more than you can imagine and you will never again be raped for a lowly box of ammunition.

Not sure how old you are, but I've gotten to the stage where learning new complicated stuff, well kinda intimidates me. I think I'm getting old.

I used to rload 12 gauge and 10 gauge shells, and helped load some 45.70's... but that seemed pretty easy...

Necking down stuuf, and firing brass, and stuff... I'm a bit hesitant.

It's not the money (obviously, afterall I am buying factory..:redface:)

Perhaps it is something I should get into..

If anyone would like to halp me get setup with the basics, one bullet at a time is fine for me right now,...

I'd like to reload 7mm-08, 45/70, 8mm Mag, for now... the 7mm-08 would be top priority if a lot of different equipment is required.

Well, I'm biting the bullet...
 
Sounds like you have some reloading experience. I would suggest a good .223. Brass is still relatively easy to obtain and so is factory ammo. Just remember to save your brass. I'm sure you can find someone close by to help you with reloading. Good luck!

Sounds like reloading would be benificial for you. I taugh myself with books and a bit of trial and error.....reading on the internet and asking a few questions on forums like CGN filled in some Blanks for me.

Of course someone in your area could is able to come help you out that's even better.

Well I'm in the market if anyone has any equipment..
 
I think my next rifle will be a 20 VarTarg made by Cooper. I just bought a Cooper Classic in 17 Rem Fireball and really like it.

I'm thinking just about any Cooper in a small base varmint calibre, would be extremely satisfying to own & shoot.
If I did not have such an accurate Remington 788 in .222, and such diverse shooting habits, a Cooper in 222/223 calibre, would have been my next step up.
