A proper gun belt makes a world of differance, if you end up wearing a gun all day you will be happy you bought a good belt, plus they will hold your pants up without being as tight as a normal belt. I just got a 5.11 belt from Daves tactical and wear it every day, I saw the belts from the gentleman in Alberta and if I had not just bought the 5.11 I would have bought one of his. The price is similar to US pricing.
Apparently there's a plastic insert. I was apprehensive at first that the "pleather" would wear away, exposing the plastic (thus scrapping into my....uhm... 'beer-fuel-reserve' ). Almost a year later, no such issue. A1!
I don't see them on their site, but give dave's surplus (link up top) a shout, I believe they carry them, or else identical ones from another manufacturer.
Personally I am not a huge fan of that buckle though. Good for a competition belt but day in, day out use would annoy the hell out of me.
Wilderness will ship their belts to Canada, no problem. (As of last year they said they were unable to ship weapon slings - due to their interpretation of DOS export restrictions - but that export of the belts was no problem.)
Brownells has a (limited) selection of Wilderness belts also.
Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I was wondering how people were making out with their 5.11 leather belts. I bought a brown one for everyday wear after reading how great they were in this thread. I am quite impressed with how the belt is holding up and holding its shape, however the durability of brown finish seems to be quite the opposite.
It rubs off very easily and almost seems to be painted on (or rubbed on with a crayon) rather than dyed into the leather... The belt is only 3 months old and already looks so crappy that I can't wear it to work....
I got my last gun belt from Dillon. That was 20 years or so ago. Still holds it's shape (wish I could say the same about me), still the same colour. It was around $40 at the time. - dan
Tandy Leather sells finished leather belts in black or brown either in their stores or online. I have even seen Tandy brand belts at Michael's Craft. They are 44 inches in total so the fit my tubby 38 waist perfect.
They are cheap, simply styled, and dang near indestructible.
