Hey guys,
Finally got my SKS out to the range. Took some video while I was at it and figured I'd share.

Seems like it shoots pretty much just as well as my CZ. It's not as nice in terms of ergonomics and I did have one misfeed but for $200 I can't complain.

Cool video Exocet. You are a big guy like me so I'm glad god gave us elbows and shoulders or else we would be SOL.

Where did you shoot at? Im from calgary is this place close? I have 1100 rounds and an sks and an 858 just itching to go shooting lol..

Looks suspiciously like he was at Homestead. It's about an hour west of Calgary.

I had my SKS (fitted with a Tapco stock) out to Shepard last week and the best I could get was 3" at 100 yds with S&B 123 gr SP ammo. She'll never be a sniper, but for a centerfire plinker you ain't gonna find much better.

Although I have found prone shooting to be way more comfortable since I developed the beer gut. :D

Very Nice video.

Thanks, I did tell you I'd post pics or video weeks ago. Mission accomplished.

I like the sound of someone dumping a mag around 2:28, way off in the background.

A pretty common occurrence from the public range. Place wouldn't be the same without it.

It's the private range out at homestead. Not exactly close at 30-40 minutes west of town, but a great place to shoot. The public range is free, but membership is pretty affordable and gives you the opportunity to compete and access to much better facilities.

You know, this video REALLY isn't helping me in my struggle to avoid getting involved with the SKS.

I'm a weak man. I know I won't be able to stop at just one.

I really enjoyed watching that. Thanks.

Glad you liked it.

Seeing as they're only a couple hun' each it's not like you'll have to give up eating. Although if you're married you won't be sleeping in the bed after you show up at home with the "investor's crate". :D
Not a terrible idea though, buy 10 at once, get it out of your system. Unless you can't stop at one crate, and really, who could...:nest:

Is that a 3" 5 shot group @ 200 meters with Czech Milsurp?

It sure is. Might have been a fluke though.

Cool video. Try improving or changing your gripping, then your shooting will be a lot better.

Was the first day I ever fired an SKS. I expect with some practice (and maybe a trigger job) I'll be able to get some real nice scores with it.

man the full length looks sweet with that bayonet .. we cant have the bayonets and really the sks just looks filthy without one .

the carbines look ago but accuracy is not a word i would associate with an SKS carbine :p

i am insanely jealous of your rifle and range :p

Trigger job is unnecessary. The trigger will be smoother and smoother as you break in the gun. The Russian trigger is one stage and very smooth. The chinese one has two stages and is really good if your finger knows how to touch. The Russian safety isn't as smooth and crispy as the Chinese one though.

Like my M44, I've never done any trigger job on it. But the trigger on it is so light and smooth.

Ahh! Beauty! SKS are really starting to grow on me...

Indeed. I bought it basically for sh!ts and giggles, but now I find myself really enjoying the rifle.

Looks like you had a blast :)
Nice and thanks for posting.

That I did. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yeah, this range has spoiled me for all others. Although long term plans are in the works for improvements. Might look like a golf course in a few years.

True enough, the trigger does improve with use. I dry fired it several hundred times before I took it out and the improvement was noticeable. The trigger is still very heavy though.
