I planned to attend the Chilliwack show, even sent them my [ ?non-refundable? ] cheque for table rent, and made a few dates to see a few old buddies there.

I was going to set up shop and compete against Thomas for the M14 work too ...
but at the gun shows I do it FOR FREE, just to keep from getting too bored!
At the shows,
if I'm not busy actually busy trying to sell some worn out used sh!t for twice what it cost me,
advice is free,
and
"Will do M14 gun smithing for Hamburgers"

That is the difference between a PROFESSIONAL,
like Thomas,
who has to pay the bills to keep his shop open,

and an amateur like me,
with ZERO overhead,
who does it strictly for fun.
And Hamburgers!!!
[;{)

Unfortunately,
a family medical emergency is keeping me away from the Chilliwack show,
and a man has to keep his priorities straight.
Like I told my wife this morning,
when she was feeling guilty about asking me to cancel my weekend plans,
"it is just another gun show "...

And gun shows are just like buses ...
there will be another one along soon enough.

See ya'll next time,
Victoria GS next weekend at the Sheraton.

I'll have my M14 tools and stuff with me ....
as usual, advice will be free,
but like much of the advice you get for free,
it may be worth less than you paid for it,
and as usual,
"Will do M14 gun smithing for Hamburgers"

But be warned,
the very next guy who asks me about M14 head space,
?.308 OR 7.62?
is gonna get beat with a 3' long steel M14 receiver wrench.

Hey Thomas,
As we both know,
$ 50 a head barely covers the expenses of renting an extra table at the gun show, cleaning supplies, printing the detailed hand outs, etc.
And especially, all those HAMBURGERS and Coca Cola for the instructor ...
to properly fuel the BS machine for all that talking over a whole day.

This was not like my previous $ 10 "introductory" seminar,
or the half day seminars we used to put on at your place for free.

That last Victoria M14 seminar was DEEP!! And long.
And we all know, those young nubile minds like it deep and long!

Many of the attendees had taken the previous introductory seminar, and the feed back I got was that $ 50 was a GENUINE BARGAIN for all the knowledge and hands on experience the attendees got

PS: If you can imagine it, I actually lost my voice for a few days after that one ...
and that has to count for something?
[;{)

And besides, all my seminar attendees got free Tshirts and a free genuine M14 bolt assembly tool [ aka a .30-06 cartridge ] for their meager seminar fee.

Yep,
M14 seminar ....$ 50
M14.CA T shirt ....Free
Genuine M14 bolt assembly tool ....Free
Knowledge regarding the proper care and modification of the M14 rifle ....
PRICELESS!!

PPS: Sooner or later I just have to get around to doing a CD about the M14 and actually selling them on the internet.

YEP, Videos, and CDs, and Utube postings ...
that is the way of the future for training,
and us old obsolete instructors,
you and me and Hungry,
doing face to face seminars about that old obsolete M14 rifle ....
well we are just OBSOLETE!!

Anyhow......

Now that we got that outta the way, see you all tomorrow.
I'll be fashionably late (10:30 or so) as I have clients to meet first thing to hand over their anxiously awaited "Doctored" rifles.
You'll know yer at the right table when you see the M14Doctor Bolt Tool display ;)
Cheers guys
Thomas

Couldn't find you but I thought it was a pretty good show.

We are in the west building right side of concession, near the big black cannon
I got there at noon :D
9 to 3 tomorrow and I'll be there at 8:30
A couple of stocks left, lots of bolt tools, tartan guide rods! Usgi spec oprods, M14 5/20 mags, Unitized gas cylinders,,,,,,
See ya all tomorrow, met lots of good folks today and that was lots of fun.

Damn. Well I guess I walked right by you a dozen times. lol

All the 5/20 mags evaporated before I got there yesterday.

The guys from Vault were optimistic that the Kel-Tec PMR-30 was going to make it into Canada. I'd be all over that. He also thought they'd be getting the 26" barreled Bullpup in .308.

A 26" barreled bullpup? shrug.

Another great show!!! Good to see you again Thomas, hope the show went well for ya!!

It was a fun time that's for sure. This show for me was not about sales although my associate did have a full group of tables of assorted goodies that seemed popular as sales were brisk.
Ny products got lot's of exposure and interest in our new line of stocks was excellent.
I have a growing list of pre orders for the May launch of the new manufacture CQBR stock.
To be honest, I sold 1 item at the show, to a fellow who acted like he won a small fortune.... When I pulled a new usgi extractor from my goody box.
Spent 140.00 including fuel, 2 pistol grips, a small bag full of g.I. Bolt rollers and clips, pins and new g.I. Piston, an NFA t-shirt and a AR A2 buffer tube.
Had a blast , discovered a surprising amount of folks with a passion for M1A's and M14's and was busy the entire time answering questions and sharing stories
