Well today I am glad enough to get my pps-50. It looks awsome, the wood actually looks and feels better than what is pictured in the picture. The finish is good both on the steel and wood, although when felt the barrel underneath the shroud is a somewhat rough lathe cut, but you would never touch it unintentionally so it doesen't bother me much. The mags both look good, they are both a blued steel, so your fingerprints do show up on them which is a bit of a drag. Also the 30rd mags aren't as boxy as they seem in the photos, they are stamped together and have ridges of metal on them. But that doesen't bother me.

The 50 rd mag deserves a paragraph of its own. So I pull out the dummy rounds and run them through the 30 rounder and it works, loading it up to 30 is a pain on the thumb but we're going to figure out a mag loader for it. The 50 rounder comes with a mag loader that strongly resembles a bent paperclip, except thicker. So I thought you know stick the rounds in the top, and somehow use this bent paperclip thing in the same fashion as a glock mag loader. Well the rounds weren't pushing down so I'm thinking crap I got a bad one". But then I remember that on tommygun magazines they have to be wound. So I see if I can wind it, I can't so I take the back cover off. Well it is about as simple as it can get there. There are 3 plastic 'fake' rounds acting as the floor plate to the drum, as in they will not go up to the chamber but follow the actual .22 rounds. So I twist the drum back and just stick the rounds into the slots, which I now feel stupid for not doing earlier. I have yet to fire it, heading out to the range on thursday maybe. But all together its going really good.

Hook the loader into its hole on the drum. Press down, the follower is depressed. Slide a round in, until it contacts the tool. Release the tool. Push the round all the way in. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Etc.

well....er....uh....shutup! lol. The way I have been practicing is that I just take the back panel off of the drum, and just scoot it all the way around and fill her up that way, cause I can get 54 rounds in! haha.

Well took it out back to the berm and shot off a 30 and a 50 round mag with it. The mags both fed fenominal, except I did have a couple fail to fires. It seems that my firing pin isn't making a big enough dent in the base, its almost leaving a little line while my other .22's leave a massive dent. We're going to look in and see if anything is out of place, or find a way to fix the problem. I'm thinking just shimming the striker pin will create a greater compression thus greater force, making bigger dents. But i'm going to worry about that after the break in period. Oh also we were using federal 525 bulk ammo.

Also the gun is actually REALLY tiny compared to what you see in the photos, like I always thought I have an average length of pull but this gun I was right tight with. But I like the small feel of it.

I'll try and get some pics up on thursday, depends if I want to spend more time shooting or more time taking pictures!

No the mags are good, I am leaving them with a whole lot of dummie rounds in them for the springs to slightly break in (I came into alot of dummie rounds somehow) so i'll see how hard they are to put in after. And the drum mag is actually really good quality, if you take the back of it off you'll see what I mean.

No not yet, I did some googling and I know of at lest one other person that has experienced the problem. I'm going to try it with some cheap winchesters and see if they dent any better.

Also another thing I noticed, this was my first .22 that I have ever throw hot brass, everything else came out cold in all my other rifles but this one throws hot stuff.

You've never fired a Browning .22 with bottom ejection and had a case go up your sleeve......

Mine just arrive today with the synthetic stock. I picked up the 50 round mag too.
Overall the quality looks very good. It's a bit "smaller" overall than I expected it to be, but then again, it is a 22.

Can't wait to try it out. Just need to figure out the 50 round mag and loading it. ;) Thanks for the tips in this thread.

Cheers,

You wan't PPS-50 pictures, well I got PPS-50 pictures for YOU! haha

Showing how the drum mag has a curved neck unlike the straight one from the stick mag, makes it a little bit harder to slide in so you have to give it a good smack when you think its in

Mag well, if you can see it there is a little metal notch in the front to guide the magazines in

DSCF0027.jpg

as you can see the 30 round mag fits in that notch perfectly thus making it easier to insert

This shows how the 50 round drum with its angled feed neck fits in a little bit differently, so its slightly harder to get in but it fits in snug

The "floor plate" consists of 3 plastic...things. the only difference between these and live rounds are that these won't feed up, so if you manage to break one there not hard to replace
