I have the opportunity to buy a used Walther G22 .22 LR-cal. semi-auto bullpup carbine for $600. It's registered as a non-restricted.

The entry from the 30th Edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values tells me it's way overpriced:
"MODEL G22 SEMI-AUTO - .22 LR cal., bullpup design with thumbhole stock, fire control and mag. integrated in rear of stock, black synthetic, carbon fiber, or camo (disc. 2006) stock, adj. sliding sights, right or left-hand controls and ejection, blue or military green finish, Weaver style rails, 20 in. barrel, 10 shot mag., approx. 6 lbs. New 2004. MSR $493.
100% = $425
98% = $375
95% = $325
90% = $285
80% = $250
70% = $225
60% = $195
NOTE: -Add $37 for scope
-Add $50 for camo stock (disc. 2006)
-Add $56 for carbon fiber stock (disc. 2007)
-Add $65 for laser
-Add $102 for red-dot sights

What I want to know is if these values are correct for the Canadian market. I can't find any in the EE forum. Is that representative of their availability in Canada?

Thanks

Pretty sure there was a thread not long ago in here with the exact same thread title and the consensus seemed to be that these are prohibited in Canada because of the bullpup stock. I think someone who had bought one when they were non-res tried to do a transfer and it wasn't allowed.

good luck, it isn't worth a penny as you CANNOT transfer it. the FEDS WILL NOT send out a ruling in writing but neither will they allow you to transfer it. Won't happen.

That is true the FRT sais that it is prohibited I have one and it just stays in the safe

Interesting. That's what the guy told me but I dismissed it as another Canadian gun law myth. Well then, tt's definitely worth $600 if I can get it transferred. I was only mildly interested in it (due to its 'tactical' look), planning to shoot it for a while, and then sell it off. But now I want it more than anything in the world. If I can get it transferred, you can bet I'm keeping it.

It's my opportunity to screw with the CFC and the RCMP. You can bet I'll go as far as I can with this. I'll initate the transfer tomorrow. I'll keep you guys updated. It's actually my local gunsmith that's selling it on consignment for some guy. I initially went to see him to find a replacement mainspring for my Colt revolver, so I wasn't even looking to buy another rifle.

What class does it fall under?

They don't fall under any grandfathered classes. They are prohibited because they are bullpups that are supposedly able to fire with the stock detached from the action. Since there were already some sold before they realized this little detail, they put the ones already in private hands in limbo, like they did with the restricted Type 97's (though for different reasons). Seeing what is happening with the Type 97's right now, this is a very dangerous prospect.

Good luck with that one, It will not be the RCMP getting screwed on this deal. You will get as far as the first phone call and they will tell you that the transfer can't be completed.
I would suggest to you to read some of the firearms act.
Are you going to pay the $ 600.oo before the transfer is started?
I can't believe a dealer would have this for sale in a shop.

I know a fellow that has one registered as non restricted and says if transfered it would more than likely turn into restricted class at least. Good luck with the RCMP you will need it as logic does not live there, Dale in T-Bay, by the way these Walthers are very well built, wish I bought one with a wood stock when they came into canada!!!

He's a registered gunsmith, not a dealer. He only has about 30 to 40 used rifles and a whole bunch of handguns (mostly all prohibs) for sale.
He's not going to charge me until the transfer gets approved, as he knows it's probably not going to get approved.
I read the part of the Act about bullpups, but I don't care. We have to *%$# with this stupid law every chance we get, and this is as good a chance as any. I have nothing to lose here.

I attempted to purchase a G22 which was classified as non-restricted on the registration certificate. Long story short... Didn't happen. CFC said that it was prohibited (even though the papers list it as non-restricted). CFC is playing silly-buggers.

Considering that the Hi-Point 995's were previously considered prohibited due to bullpup stocks and are now restricted (barrel length) it may or may not go through.

you should know by now if the transfer has gone through, non-restricted 22's are almost an immediate transfer, seller calls gets a ref # buyer calls in the ref # and its a done deal.

Sorry Man, that's the same result everyone is getting and you won't get any more information on it, if you luck out let us know
